\nBy the article: \u201cChidi Lloyd: The Unending Ugly Comedy Of A Murder
\nSuspect\u201d published online by Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Adviser to the
\nRivers state governor on Electronic Media clearly embarrassed not only
\nhimself but his boss as he brazenly confirmed the public perception of the
\ncurrent Rivers State Government led by Nyesom Wike, as a government of
\ntouts and \u201cPort Harcourt boys.\u201d
\nEven someone who doesn\u2019t know anything about Rivers politics would have
\ndone a better job of taking on Chidi Lloyd on his allegations of
\ncorruption and misapplication of public funds against Governor Wike and
\nhis government.
\nHow do you reconcile that the governor\u2019s aide could publish that: \u201cThe
\nonly difference between Chidi Lloyd and Evans the kidnapper, is the fact
\nthat Lloyd belongs to APC, while Evans \u00a0has not authenticated \u00a0his
\nmembership of that party; otherwise, both are murder suspects, \u00a0notorious
\nfor their crimes against society?\u201d Haba!
\nHear the governor\u2019s aide: \u201cEach time you see Lloyd on television or hear
\nhim on radio, simply understand that a murder suspect is\u00a0at large
\nbecause\u00a0of the corruption of the police in collusion with Amaechi. \u00a0Lloyd
\nis like a bull in a China shop. \u00a0He should be handled with caution till he
\nis\u00a0rearraigned and jailed for his crimes.\u201d
\nCuriously, of the plethora of issues that borders on alleged
\nmaladministration of his boss, Governor Wike, all that the Special Adviser
\ncould articulate to defend and market his boss was that: \u201cChidi Lloyd,
\nformer Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly is a murder
\nsuspect. He has the deaths of two persons, one of them a policeman,
\nhanging on his neck. \u00a0He also attempted to murder his\u00a0colleague, Mr
\nMichael Chinda on the floor\u00a0of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Lloyd
\nwas a major factor in the relocation of the State Assembly to the dining
\nhall of Government House Port Harcourt during Amaechi\u2019s failed
\nadministration.\u201d Shame to my state!
\nSimeon, are there no serious security challenges in Rivers state now or is
\nit because you are enjoying the secured comfort of the Government House
\nwith your boss? The spate of kidnapping accross the state and violent
\nrobbery attacks even in broad day light, are these not enough to be called
\n\u201csecurity challenge?\u201dYou should actually help us to understand you better
\nbecause from all indications it seems you have lost your sense of
\nintegrity, honesty, and decency, the same attributes you accused Chidi
\nLloyd to be lacking. Are people not living and farming in the north east
\nthe hot bed of the Boko Haram menace?
\nHow can you debase your reasoning to the level that you now trivialise and
\npoliticise serious matters that are giving the people of the state cause
\nfor serious concern? For you to declare that \u201cRivers State is the safest
\nstate\u00a0in Nigeria today,\u201d all well meaning Rivers people must join you to
\nsay a big \u201cAmen.\u201d That means that\u2019s our prayer!
\nRather than wasting time and and public money pushing attacks on Chidi
\nLloyd, a private citizen, decent minds would have expected that the SA to
\nthe governor would have picked genuine issues such as the raging
\ncontroversy over the exact amount his boss has received till date from the
\nParis Club refunds and adequately thrash it to make the state governor
\nlook better in the eyes of the electorates.
\nThe question is out of N 14 billion; N17 billion; and N34 billion, which
\nfigure are we going to take as the actual amount received by Governor Wike
\nfrom the Federal Government\u2019s Paris Club Refund to Rivers State? Who does
\nSimeon Nwakaudu expect us to believe on these figures- Wike or the federal
\ngovernment?
\nHow many Statements has the governor\u2019s media adviser articulated and
\npushed out to strengthen his boss\u2019 accusation of the federal government?
\nDoes Simeon even work with the Port Harcourt press to market his oga\u2019s
\nachievements as the governor has been trumpeting?
\nOne would have expected this to be a more serious issue for politics by
\nthe state government than Chidi Lloyd being on the wanted list of the
\nsecurity agencies.
\nThis man should be told that there is a very wide difference between an
\nintelligent press release and dumping of figures and insults on people who
\nfor political reasons as expected, think the governor is not applying the
\nstate\u2019s resources in the service of his people.
\nAs said by Simeon himself concerning Gbenga Aruleba of AIT, \u201cOne of the
\nworst positions for a journalist\u00a0to find himself is the tight corner of
\npolitical pressures\u00a0from a benefactor.\u201d Good that he rightly observed also
\nthat, \u201cthere should be a limit to pecuniary affiliation\u201d not only in
\nbroadcast journalism but also by those who today are advising those in
\ngovernment on media and associated propaganda. This is where Simeon should
\ntactfully advice himself also because\u00a0tomorrow<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is far bigger than today.
