\u25aaSwears in 13 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen<\/p>\n
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the re-appointed
\nRivers State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr Emmanuel
\nAguma\u00a0 (SAN) to ensure the conclusive prosecution of Former Majority
\nLeader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr Chidi Lloyd over the
\nattempted murder of a member of the State Assembly, Mr Michael Chinda.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike also directed the Attorney General and Commissioner of
\nJustice to ensure the conclusive prosecution of Mr Ojukaye Flag Amachree
\nwho is standing trial for the murder of a citizen of Asari Toru\u00a0 Local
\nGovernment Area during one of the rerun\u00a0 elections.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0 him, anybody who commits\u00a0 crime in the state must face the
\nfull weight of the law.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike spoke on Saturday\u00a0 after swearing-in the reappointed State
\nAttorney General and Commissioner and 13 Caretaker Committee Chairman of
\nLocal Government Areas.<\/p>\n
He said: “The Attempted Murder of a member of the Rivers State House of
\nAssembly must be conclusively\u00a0 prosecuted by the office of the Attorney
\nGeneral.<\/p>\n
“Also, the person involved\u00a0 in the murder of a citizen of Asari Toru Local
\nGovernment Area during the rerun elections must\u00a0 be\u00a0 conclusively
\nprosecuted. Nobody is above the law.<\/p>\n
“I don’t know how the person who was almost killed on the\u00a0 floor\u00a0 of the
\nRivers House of Assembly will feel seeing his assailant moving around
\nfreely? How will the family of the murdered Asari Toru Local Government
\nArea citizen feel knowing that the alleged murder\u00a0 suspect is roaming
\nfreely without conclusive prosecution “.<\/p>\n
The governor\u00a0 charged the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to
\nensure that all the victims\u00a0 get justice in accordance with the tenets of
\nthe law.<\/p>\n
He advised the\u00a0 Attorney General to sustain the enthronement\u00a0 of the rule
\nof law to avoid a situation\u00a0 where people\u00a0 resort to self help on account
\nthat the state cannot\u00a0 prosecute criminal offenders.<\/p>\n
On the newly sworn-in Chairmen of Caretaker Committees of\u00a0 Local
\nGovernment Areas , Governor Wike advised them to concentrate on the
\nmaintenance of security and environmental sanitation.<\/p>\n
He advised the Local Government Chairmen to work with security agencies to
\naddress security challenges\u00a0 in their\u00a0 respective local government areas.<\/p>\n
He warned\u00a0 them against the mismanagement of council funds for personal
