Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on all Nigerians to
\nsupport the Nigerian Armed Forces \u00a0to fight crime, because insecurity
\naffects everybody, irrespective \u00a0of political \u00a0affiliation.<\/p>\n
Speaking \u00a0during a State Banquet in honour of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt
\nGeneral Tukur Buratai at the Government House Port Harcourt on Thursday
\nnight, Governor Wike said when there is no peace, governance \u00a0suffers.<\/p>\n
He said: “Everybody \u00a0must \u00a0join hands to fight crime and insecurity. \u00a0This
\nis because insecurity \u00a0has no \u00a0political \u00a0affiliation.<\/p>\n
“When there is no peace, there will be no governance. \u00a0When there is
\ninsecurity, the revenue \u00a0of the state will be negatively \u00a0affected and it
\nwill be \u00a0difficult \u00a0to \u00a0support the \u00a0security \u00a0agencies with logistics and
\nfinance”.<\/p>\n
He said that \u00a0the \u00a0security \u00a0agencies \u00a0are doing their best in Rivers
\nState as they have made \u00a0the state \u00a0one of the \u00a0safest places \u00a0to live and
\ndo business.<\/p>\n
The governor \u00a0said that Nigerians must learn how to commend security
\nagencies \u00a0for their service \u00a0to the country, pointing out that there is
\nnowhere \u00a0in the world where you don’t \u00a0have \u00a0security challenges.2<\/p>\n
“I want to commend \u00a0the Chief of Army Staff \u00a0for \u00a0achieving \u00a0the great
\nfeat of bringing the \u00a0Boko Haram insurgency \u00a0to the \u00a0barest \u00a0minimum “, he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel \u00a0commended \u00a0the military \u00a0for
\ntheir \u00a0service to the nation. He urged them to continue \u00a0to provide
\nsecurity \u00a0in the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai said that
\nthe 6 Division of the Nigerian Army has come to stay as it is programmed
\nto provide maximum security \u00a0for the core states of the region.<\/p>\n
He lauded the \u00a0Rivers State Government \u00a0for appreciating the setting \u00a0up
\nof 6 Division \u00a0through \u00a0the special banquet.<\/p>\n
He said: “Security is a collective responsibility. \u00a0We must work together
\nto achieve the best results. \u00a0Strong \u00a0inter-agency cooperation \u00a0is vital
\nto improving security “.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Army Staff and the senior army officers \u00a0were \u00a0entertained
