Stakeholders in the politics of the South-East geo-political zone on
\nFriday were full of praises for the National Chairman of the All
\nProgressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.<\/p>\n
They described the APC national chairman as a man of character, competence
\nand credibility.<\/p>\n
The leaders, who met in Awka, Anambra State, lauded Oyegun\u2019s role in the
\nfight for true federalism, ideals of democracy and enthronement of the
\nrule of law in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
They also commended him for protecting the integrity of the party,
\nenhancing the cause of democracy and consolidating the strength and mass
\nappeal of the ruling party in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cAPC is enjoying a sense of unanimity,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
The leaders distanced from the calls on Oyegun to resign and secession in
\nthe name of restructuring, and lashed at former Senate Majority Whip,
\nSenator Kanti Bello, Imo Politician, Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu and Suspended
\nDeputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr. Timi Frank over the
\nstatements credited to them.<\/p>\n
They also said critics of Oyegun and the APC-led Federal Government were
\nwrong in their assessment of the achievements of the national chairman and
\nthe activities of the government.<\/p>\n
They urged Bello, Izuogu and Frank not to obfuscate issues, polarize the
\nparty and drag the name of the national chairman and other prominent
\nleaders through the mud.<\/p>\n
Meeting under the auspices of the South-East Unity and Advancement Forum
\n(SEUAM) to articulate the position of the zone in the politics of Nigeria,
\nthe leaders said Oyegun deserved commendation for advancing the course of
\nthe party.<\/p>\n
They stated that the Federal Government has succeeded in all ramifications
\nparticularly ensuring an indivisible entity and enhancing the peaceful
\nco-existence of the various ethnic groups in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe anti-corruption war has reached new heights with high profile
\nprosecutions and unprecedented awareness.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement titled, \u201cSouth-East has spoken\u201d, the leaders praised
\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for
\nrising to the great possibilities of Nigeria, empowering the people,
\nsatisfying the economic and political yearnings of Nigerians, sorting out
\ncertain fundamental issues germane to the existence of the country and
\ndeepening good governance, accountability and \u00a0 transparency.<\/p>\n
The statement was signed by the Chairman of South-East Unity and
\nAdvancement Forum (SEUAM), Chief Maxwell Okoye.<\/p>\n
The leaders commended Buhari and Osinbajo for contributing immensely to
\nsustenance of unity, stability, security and development at all levels of
\ngovernance in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The leaders urged political office holders in the country to focus on the
\npeople and development of the economy and said it was high time Anambra
\nState joined the mainstream of the nation\u2019s politics.<\/p>\n
They advised the Founder and General of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual
\nChurch, Primate Babatunde Ayodele and other religious leaders to lend
