Sources hinted that Peoples Democratic<br \/>\nAlliance, PDA, could be adopted as the new name for the coalition,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/pointblanknews.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1501691340253000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE-e67b8OoWwWJwVmLl0q358gmg8Q\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\">pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0learnt.<\/p>\n<p>Political Parties allegedly involved in the merger with the PDP according<br \/>\nto a source includes: Labour Party, LP, Advanced Peoples Democratic<br \/>\nAlliance, APDA, Accord Party, AP, Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA,<br \/>\nSocial Democratic Party, SDP, United Nigeria Peoples Party, UNPP.<\/p>\n<p>Others are: All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, National Democratic<br \/>\nParty, NDP, United Progressive Party, UPP, Young Progressive Party, YPP<br \/>\nand four others.<\/p>\n<p>Pointblanknews.com gathered that leaders of the PDP believe that the All<br \/>\nProgressive Congress, APC have used its propaganda machineries to destroy<br \/>\nthe party as a brand, hence the urgent need to form a coalition and rename<br \/>\nand rebrand the party ahead of 2019 elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot take for granted that the APC has used propaganda to destroy<br \/>\nPDP. Part of our plan is to rebrand the Party whether the merger works out<br \/>\nor not. We recognize the need to rebrand and reposition the party and we<br \/>\nwon\u2019t take that for granted,\u201d the source hinted.<\/p>\n<p>The source, a PDP Chieftain who has been in talks with other political<br \/>\nparties said the decision to seek alliance was borne out of the need to<br \/>\nbring back PDP members and other like minds who in the wake of the<br \/>\nprolonged court case, dumped the party.<\/p>\n<p>The source who does not want to be named because he is not authorized to<br \/>\ncomment on the on-going discussions told <a href=\"http:\/\/Pointblanknews.com\">Pointblanknews.com<\/a> that once the<br \/>\nalliance becomes concrete, a new constitution would be adopted to position<br \/>\nthe alliance ahead of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He hinted that one of the key issues members of the 15 Political parties<br \/>\nhave expressed is the need to allow candidates for any elective positions<br \/>\nto emerge without imposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne key area of concern for members of the alliance we are talking with<br \/>\nis imposition of candidates by political parties. This is what almost<br \/>\nkilled PDP and the coalition wants that area settled before the merger is<br \/>\nconcluded,\u201d the source told Pointblanknews.com.<\/p>\n<p>An official of APDA who confirmed the merger to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/pointblanknews.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1501691340253000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE-e67b8OoWwWJwVmLl0q358gmg8Q\" data-mt-detrack-inspected=\"true\">pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0said<br \/>\nthe party is open to the possibility of a merger but cautioned that the<br \/>\nissue of imposition must be eliminated while a new constitution created<br \/>\nfor efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are open to talks with any party so long as it would enhance democracy<br \/>\nand benefit the people of Nigeria.
