The Executive Director Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission,
\nNDDC,\u00a0Engr. Samuel Adjogbe, FNSE,\u00a0has said the Niger Delta Region remains
\na viable place for foreign investment.<\/p>\n
Adjogbe, who represented the Managing director of the Interventionist
\nAgency, Mr. Nsima Ekere, made this remark during a meeting with a
\nConsortium of Chinese Construction Firms at the NDDC Headquarters, Port
\nHarcourt. He assured that, as a region with immense natural resources, a
\ngood return on any foreign investment in the Niger Delta Region was
\nguaranteed.<\/p>\n
The consortium of Chinese Investors led by Miss Julie Zhu, Managing
\nDirector of Phoenix Industrial Development Ltd is billed to undertake the
\ndualization of the 48km Abak-Ete East West Road in Akwa Ibom State.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Group of Investors, Julie Zhu, affirmed
\nthe willingness of the Group to invest in the Niger Delta Region. She
\nsaid: \u201cAs against talks of insecurity and restiveness in the region, we
\nbelieve that this indeed,\u00a0is a feasible venture to undertake.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Executive Director Projects noted that the move made to invest in the
\nregion was in furtherance of the 4-R Initiative of the Interventionist
\nAgency which included restoring NDDC to its core mandate.<\/p>\n
Engr.\u00a0 Adjogbe said: \u201cApart from the manifold benefits of having quality
\ninfrastructures in the region,\u00a0this joint venture will aid in promoting
\nforeign relations and boosting the confidence of those interested in doing
\nbusiness in the Niger Delta Region.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further reiterated the commitment of the present NDDC Board and
\nManagement to do things differently, irrespective of criticism and
\nblackmail from people, who hitherto have benefited from the old ways of
\ndoing things in the Commission.<\/p>\n
Some members of the consortium of foreign investors present at the meeting
\nincluded Mr. Gerardo Della Santa, MD\/ CEO Alcon Nigeria Limited;\u00a0 Wang
\nLi,\u00a0 Chairman of Road and Bridge International; Zhuang Yong of JSTI Group;
\nMessrs Levi Wei, Kang Juan, Wei Long Long and Larry Huaiqiang Li, all of
\nChina Shandong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group
\nLimited.<\/p>\n
And the NDDC team was represented by Engr Emmanuel Audu Ohwavborua,
\nDirector of Project Monitoring and Supervision (PMS), Engr Eyoette Etim,
\nActing Director, Utility, Infrastructure Development and Waterways (UIDW)
\nDirectorate, Engr Abraham Ondukwu, Assistant Director, UIDW Directorate
