\nfamily should convene a meeting on or before\u00a0August 28th, 2017<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for the
\npurpose of nominating a candidate or candidates.<\/p>\n
According to him, the candidates nominated will be presented to the
\nkingmakers by the head of the ruling house through the council\u2019s secretary
\n\u201cfor the election of a suitable candidate as *Akarigbo* of Remoland-Elect\u201d.<\/p>\n
The name of the candidate elected by the kingmakers is expected to be sent
\nthe state governor, Ibikunle Amosun for final approval as the substantive
\n*Akarigbo* of Remo.<\/p>\n
Already, some princes including two university professors have indicated
\ntheir interest to contest the vacant stools from the two family lineages of
\nTorungbuwa ruling house, the Famolu and the Oluyomade.<\/p>\n
One of the professors is Prince Adewale Roland Solarin hails from Famolu
\nlineage. He is a professor of mathematics and a former Deputy
\nVice-Chancellor of University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) and former
\nDirector-General of National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja.<\/p>\n
Solarin is the President of African Mathematical Union (AMU) and is
\npresently serving as a member of the Scientific Board of UNESCO\u2019s
\nInternational Basic Science Programme, Paris, France and in 2015 he was
\nappointed as the UNESCO-NMC Chair of Mathematics.<\/p>\n
He bagged his first Ph. D. (Mathematics) at Obafemi Awolowo University,
\nIle-Ife and was one of the prime movers of the inauguration of the Quality
\nControl Society of Nigeria (QCSON) and consequently became the foundation
\nNational President of the Society.<\/p>\n
Professor Solarin has released what he called his vision for the 21st
\ncentury Remo Kingdom, saying his \u201cvision is to create a world-class city
\nand region that is internationally recognized as a pacesetters in all its
\nactivities\u201d.<\/p>\n
Another professor in the race who is also from Famolu family line is Prince
\nGabriel Ogunmola. He is a professor of Chemistry and was Chancellor, Lead
\nUniversity, Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n
Among others princes who had shown interest to contest for the vacant
\nAkarigbo\u2019s stool Tunde Ajayi, an accountant, Mutiu Adebayo and Akeebu
\nKazeem.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, based on the letter issued by Sagamu Local Government\u2019s
\nSecretary on August 15, 2017 which gave a 14-day ultimatum to the ruling
\nhouse to present its candidates, the Torungbuwa family has fixed Thursday,
\nAugust 24, 2017 for the selection exercise which would be held at Sagamu
\ntown.<\/p>\n
