{"id":59284,"date":"2017-08-27T03:14:49","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T02:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=59284"},"modified":"2017-08-27T03:14:49","modified_gmt":"2017-08-27T02:14:49","slug":"balarabe-musa-calls-northern-youths-issuing-quit-notices-nonentities-sabotuers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/balarabe-musa-calls-northern-youths-issuing-quit-notices-nonentities-sabotuers\/","title":{"rendered":"Balarabe Musa Calls Northern Youths Issuing Quit Notices &#8220;Nonentities, Sabotuers&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Kaduna Governor Balarabe Musa has said that \u201csaboteurs\u201d were behind<br \/>\ngroups issuing quit notices to Nigerians living in some parts of the<br \/>\ncountry.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Musa, who condemned such notices in a telephone\u00a0 interview with the<br \/>\nNews Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Saturday, said the development was a threat<br \/>\nto Nigeria\u2019s unity.<\/p>\n<p>The People Redemption Party (PRP) leader was reacting to the Indigenous<br \/>\nPeoples of Biafra (IPOB)\u2019s reported\u00a0 rejection of the withdrawal of quit<br \/>\nnotice given to Igbo to leave the north, and a fresh quit notice given to<br \/>\nYoruba persons resident in the Niger Delta to quit the region before<br \/>\n<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1239406573\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 1<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe quit notices are designed to escalate tension in the country and<br \/>\npromote disaffection among citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly, the issuers of such notices are irresponsible groups being<br \/>\nbacked by some people in their respective regions to issue the notices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch backers are saboteurs ready to undermine the unity of the country<br \/>\nfor their own parochial ethnic and political interests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is sad that issuance of quit notices to Nigerians resident in other<br \/>\nstates is now the order of the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe development threatens the unity of the country and the peaceful<br \/>\nco-existence of all citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe groups issuing the threats are not doing that alone. They are<br \/>\nactually acting scripts by some people in their regions who are supposed<br \/>\nto be leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese backers are saboteurs who are bent on undermining the unity of the<br \/>\ncountry for their personal and parochial interests,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor urged the government to take the right steps to arrest<br \/>\nthe development in the interest of peace and progress.<\/p>\n<p>On the rejection of quit notice withdrawal by IPOB, Mr. Musa said such<br \/>\nrejection was not relevant because IPOB could not force Igbo, who had<br \/>\nchosen to live in the North, to leave by\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1239406574\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 1<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The former governor noted, however, that the northern youth group that<br \/>\nissued the quit notice did not have the power to implement their threat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll these groups issuing quit notices and threats do not have the powers<br \/>\nto do anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey only create tension in the polity and threaten the peace of the<br \/>\ncountry .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey can\u2019t tell people where to live. They are nonentities who are just<br \/>\nclaiming an influence they do not have,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the responsibility to keep the country together was that of<br \/>\nevery citizen, and urged leaders and politicians to promote peaceful<br \/>\nco-existence in their respective regions.
