Senator Andy Uba has said that Awka, the capital city of Anambra State,
\nwas the worst state capital in the whole of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Mr. Uba, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
\ndisclosed this in Awka after touring the state ahead of the primary
\nelection of the party slated for August 26.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by his media aide, Joseph Itazi, Mr. Uba after
\ntouring the 14 local governments said that the state lacked a befitting
\ncapital.<\/p>\n
He added that his tour of the state had also re-emphasised the enormous
\nwork that needed to be done in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us look at Awka as a state capital, Awka till today remains the worst
\ncapital in the whole of Nigeria, it\u2019s present infrastructural state does
\nnot justify its status as a capital city.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I won my elections in 2007, I had plans for Awka. We were going to
\ncreate a new Awka, with well laid out plans befitting to a state like ours<\/p>\n
\u201cSadly, I was removed from office after 17 days and till date no
\nadministration has deemed it worthy to toe such a path.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me assure you that in my first year in office, I will begin to
\nimplement such ideas, Awka must be given the status it deserves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr. Uba said that the current administration in the state lacked ideas and
\nhad failed to deliver benefits to Anambra people.<\/p>\n
He said that the state had not had any development since the
\nadministration started adding that he was aware of the enormous work that
\nneeded to be done if he is voted in as the state governor.<\/p>\n
He described his gubernatorial ambition as one laden with the burden to
\ndevelop the state in the shortest time possible<\/p>\n
He bemoaned the state of infrastructure in the state, promising to
\ngalvanise all resources available to the state for the benefit of its
\ncitizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnambra State has all it takes to excel, in my years of service, I have
\ncome to understand that the state can compete with the likes of Lagos,
\nKano and Rivers States, with our abundant resources, we can compete with
\nthese aforementioned states.\u201d<\/p>\n
He urged the delegates to ignore the lies peddled against him, stating
\nthat at no point in time had he the intention of changing or removing any
\nof the party leaders, officials or delegates.<\/p>\n
Mr. Uba also promised to run an inclusive campaign that would be powered
