{"id":59305,"date":"2017-08-28T12:25:26","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T11:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=59305"},"modified":"2017-08-28T12:25:26","modified_gmt":"2017-08-28T11:25:26","slug":"tension-abia-supreme-court-begins-hearing-ikpeazu-nwosu-suit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/tension-abia-supreme-court-begins-hearing-ikpeazu-nwosu-suit\/","title":{"rendered":"TENSION IN ABIA AS SUPREME COURT BEGINS HEARING ON IKPEAZU, NWOSU SUIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;Gov prepares N5billion War Chest<\/p>\n<p>As the Supreme Court returns from its annual recess to hear the case of<br \/>\nalleged tax and submission of false information filed against Governor<br \/>\nOkezie Ikpeazu by a contestant in the December 8, 2014 PDP governorship<br \/>\nprimaries in Abia state, Sir\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_826412511\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Nwosu, Pointblanknews.com sources<br \/>\nrevealed that there is tension in the state as Ikpeazu runs helter<br \/>\n\u2013skelter to retain his seat.<\/p>\n<p>The governor was said to have been frightened when some members of his<br \/>\nlegal team informed him that Nwosu\u2019s suit was laden with facts and is<br \/>\nclearly distinct from Uche Ogah\u2019s suit which the Supreme Court dismissed<br \/>\nfor failing to prove his case.<\/p>\n<p>Ikpeazu is worried to the extent that he hardly spends a week in Abia<br \/>\nstate without traveling.<\/p>\n<p>Pointblanknews.com gathered that the governor has contacted a high ranking<br \/>\nJustice of the apex court from the South South geo political zone as well<br \/>\nas another female Judge at the Court of Appeal from a South East state to<br \/>\nhelp reach the Justices of the Supreme Court to have mercy on him.<\/p>\n<p>According to a source at the Abia Government House, Ikpeazu is amassing a<br \/>\nN5 billion financial war chest to try to influence the Justices of the<br \/>\napex court who will sit over the matter. The governor is worried on the<br \/>\nimplication of the several contradictory information on his tax documents<br \/>\nwhere he swore to an oath and Nwosu\u2019s doggedness in prosecuting the<br \/>\nmatter, despite threats to kill him.<\/p>\n<p>Ikpeazu\u2019s testimony on the payment of taxes for the years; 2011, 2012 and<br \/>\n2013 as well as his dates of his employment at ASPIMS and ASEPA and taxes<br \/>\npaid contradicts the testimony of the Abia State Director of Taxes, James<br \/>\nOkoji, a fact which the Supreme Court may not over look .\u00a0 According to<br \/>\njudicial precedents, the Supreme Court may not overlook a situation where<br \/>\ntax was paid for Ikpeazu when he was yet to be employed in ASPIMS and<br \/>\nASEPA.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the State House of the Assembly said, \u201cThe governor has been<br \/>\nso worried on the matter. This is the last battle before 2019. It is a<br \/>\nmatter of life and death for us. We will do anything to ensure that the<br \/>\nSupreme Court judgment will favour us.
