President Muhammadu Buhari has received with great concern reports of the
\nflooding in Benue State, which, according to early estimates, has affected
\nthousands of\u00a0homes and displaced more than 100,000\u00a0persons in 12 local
\ngovernment areas.<\/p>\n
Consequently, the President has directed the National Emergency Management
\nAgency (NEMA) to immediately mobilize personnel and resources to come to
\nthe aid of the victims of the flooding. The President is closely
\nmonitoring the situation, and will be receiving regular updates on the
\nscale of the disaster, as well as the Federal Government’s humanitarian
\nresponse.<\/p>\n
The President extends his sympathies to the Government and people of Benue
\nState, and assures that the Federal Government will make available any
\nassistance needed to enable the State Government and the affected
