Indications have emerged that the police may soon parade the perpetrators
\nof last breach of peace at the palace of Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11,
\nas the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf, has inaugurated a
\npowerful team of police detectives to unravel the immediate and remote
\ncause of the fracas.<\/p>\n
It could be recalled\u00a0 that last Saturday, during the traditional Hawan
\nDaushe, to mark the Eid-El-Kabir, at the Emir\u2019s palace, the Kwankwassiyya
\nfaction of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in their thousands,
\nconverged at Hasiya Bayero Hospital, located opposite the Palace, with an
\nalleged motive to disrupt the event, which was supposed to be graced by
\nthe state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a situation which resulted
\nin a bloody clash.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Reporters at the Bompai Police headquarters yesterday, the
\nCommand\u2019s spokesman, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said investigations into the
\nfracas will soon be concluded, adding that police, \u201cmust bring the
\nperpetrators to book.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cthe Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rabiu Yusuf
\ninaugurated a powerful team of police detectives headed by the Deputy
\nCommissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Intelligence and
\nInvestigation Department, Ahmed Muhammad Azare to immediately embark on
\npainstaking investigation and find out the immediate and remote causes of
\nthe clash that occurred on the 2nd September, 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the Team\u2019s terms of reference include to: identify the victims,
\nattackers, their sponsors, masterminds, as well as any action or inaction
\ntaken so far against the police, adding that those found culpable would be
\nprosecuted.<\/p>\n
Reacting to press briefing credited to Kwankwasiyya Support Group, held in
\nAbuja, on September 7 accusing the police of complicity in the matter,
\nMajia described their claims as, \u201cmischievous, malicious, callous and a
\ndemonstration of shame,\u201d adding that, \u201ctheir actions portray them as
\npathological liars.\u201d<\/p>\n
Giving a graphic account of the incident, Majia said: \u201cthe fracas occurred
\nduring \u2018HAWAN DAUSHE\u2019 at Emir\u2019s Palace, Kano, on the second day of
\nEid-El-Kabir, an occasion organized by the Emirate Council, purely
\ntraditional and not political.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the occasion, District Heads (Hakimai) pay homage to His Royal
\nHighness, the Emir of Kano at \u2018KOFAR KUDU.\u2019 On that fateful day, the
\nKwankwasiyya faction of APC converged at Hasiya Bayero Hospital in
\nthousands, with their supporters drawn from Sokoto, Kogi, and other
\nneighbouring states and various Local Government Areas of Kano state with
\nthe ulterior motive to disrupt the occasion, which was not a
\npolitical gathering.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were chanting \u2018Bamayi! Bamayi!! Bamayi!!!, meaning, \u2018we are not in
\nsupport, we are not in support, we are not in support.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis happened when the factional group (Kwankwasiyya), sighted the convoy
\nof His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi
\nUmar Ganduje, OFR, approaching the venue of the occasion and suddenly
\nstarted pelting the convoy.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, with the deliberate cause of chaos, a clash ensued between the
\ntwo APC factions. With quick intervention of the police, normalcy was
\nrestored. Some notable Kwankwasiyya\u2019s ardent supporters were rescued from
\nthe ugly incident including former Commissioner in the past
\nadministration, Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, former SSG, Dr. Rabiu Suleiman
\nBichi, former Director Special Services, Alhaji Danyaro Yakasai, and
\nescorted by the police to their respective residences safely.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, it is quite disheartening that these same people that caused the
\npandemonium turned a leaf of shame against the police that saved their
\nlives from being lynched. On no occasion that the Kwankwasiyya faction of
\nAPC sought for audience with the Commissioner of Police and their request
\nwas turned down, such assertion was nothing but an act of mischief.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kano Police Command is calling on all the good citizens of the state
\nto remain calm, and equally assuring them that no amount of propaganda,
\nintimidation, misrepresentation and total evasion of facts will deter the
\npolice Command from carrying out its constitutional duties of maintaining
\nlaw and order.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Nigeria Police will not allow any group or organization under
\nwhatsoever guise to disrupt the relative peace the citizens of Kano state
\nare currently enjoying. The police Command is hereby issuing a stern
\nwarning to all miscreants under whosoever guise, that it will not fold its
\nhands and watch thugs hatching ugly situation that may lead to mayhem in
\nthe entire state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Command, therefore, calls on the good people of the state to
\ncollaborate with the Police to unmask these miscreants and perpetrators of
\nlast Saturday are incident as they will be dealt with in accordance to the
