The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State on Wednesday took a
\ndig at the performance of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
\ngovernment, expressing disappointment.<\/p>\n
The APC echoed a perception that many people including Chief Peter Obi
\nshare and which reverberates in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cChief Peter Obi is disappointed in Mr. Willie Obiano. He is complaining
\nin every quarter, claiming that he left over N76billion which has not
\ntranslated into any tangible project. The economy of the state has gone
\ndown. The educational sector is in crisis. The indices are pointing
\ntowards negative. The agricultural incentive is a scam. Today, they are no
\nlonger talking of exporting vegetables. Even with the internally generated
\nrevenue and increase in taxes, the people are suffering. The
\ninfrastructure provided by Dr. Chris Ngige and Peter Obi are falling to
\npieces. The roads are bad and becoming more dangerous. When it rains,
\neverywhere is flooded, bringing untold hardship to the people. The people
\nare fed up with Obiano\u201d Anambra State APC Secretary, Mr. Chukwuma Agufugo
\ntold journalists in Awka.<\/p>\n
Agufugo who scolded Obiano for his poor performance condemned the governor
\nfor not encouraging the development and growth of the manufacturing sector
\nas well as other sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe industrial policy of the state is faulty. There are no measures aimed
\nat improving the competitiveness and capabilities of domestic firms.
\nGovernment is not assisting or patronizing local vehicle manufacturers.
\nThe state vehicles were bought from foreign companies. Has Obiano extended
\ntax incentives to new companies as a way of encouraging them? Where is the
\ninfrastructure?\u00a0 You have touts chasing them, collecting money without
\nremitting to the state.<\/p>\n
Agufuro pointed out the dreadful state of Nigeria when APC took over in
\n2015, commending President Muhammadu Buhari for making headway on economic
\nmatters, security, anti-corruption drive and others.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnowing where we are coming from, two years is not too early to judge
\nthis administration. It is a good time to assess a government. For anybody
\nto say the APC government has not performed, that person is not fair to
\nhimself. The PDP plunged the country into recession.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unhappy with the failures of the PDP government and the chaotic nature of
\nthe country before May 29, 2015, Agufuro said the record of the APC
\ngovernment in less than three years was better than the 16 years of PDP.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the story is different. We have an investment friendly economic
\nclimate that attracts both domestic and foreign investors. Nigeria\u2019s
\nforeign exchange reserve has increased tremendously. Nigeria is self
\nsufficient in rice production. Other sectors are being developed and
\nserious attention dedicated to them. No longer lip service. Jobs are being
\ncreated. Infrastructure has improved across board. Budget implementation
\nhas gone far. The government is affecting the people\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He commended the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun
\nfor performing excellently.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe All Progressives Congress (APC) is a political structure. The party
\nis in a good shape. It is doing what is necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
The secretary of the party blasted those supporting Obiano\u2019s candidacy,
\nsaying all hands must be on deck to remove APGA.<\/p>\n
\u201cAPC will ensure wealth creation, job opportunities, industrialization,
\nconcrete infrastructure, general welfare and security of lives and
\nproperty in Anambra State.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also urged Ndi Anambra to live beyond mere sentiment and key to the
\ncentre.<\/p>\n
\u201cReal change begins with self conviction, aspiration and desire. Anambra
\npeople must take their faith and lives into their hands by voting
\nmassively in the Nov 18 governorship election for real and positive
