Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described President
\nMuhammadu Buhari\u2019s directive for the immediate disengagement of former
\nChairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr
\nAbdullahi Maina, as an afterthought, saying; \u201cThe President only acted
\nto save his face from the global embarrassment caused him by the
\noutcry of Nigerians on the news of Maina\u2019s reinstatement.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose demanded for the immediate arrest and trial of Maina
\nas well as sack of all those who perpetrated his reinstatement, which
\nhe described as fraudulent and shameful.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public
\nCommunications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose, who
\nlikened Buhari’s anti-corruption fight to a situation where \u201cSatan is
\ncalling Judas Iscariot a sinner,\u201d reminded Nigerians that he said
\nbefore now that the kind of corruption that will be witnessed in
\nPresident Buhari\u2019s government will be unprecedented and that he had
\nbeen vindicated.<\/p>\n
The governor described the government of President Buhari as
\ncorruption personified, noting that; \u201cIf Maina, who was declared
\nwanted for corrupt practices by the International Police Organisation,
\n(INTERPOL) after he was dismissed from office by the Civil Service
\nCommission in 2013 for allegedly committing N2.1 Billion pension fraud
\nwhile in office, could be secretly reinstated and even promoted
\nwithout writing the required civil service promotion examination, no
\none should be in doubt any longer that Buhari is not fighting any
\ncorruption.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who described President Buhari and his men as
\ndefenders and protectors of corruption, said; \u201cEven the former
\nChairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, who was accused of corruption by
\nthe Senate, removed from office unceremoniously and declared wanted is
\nnow the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Fraud Unit
\n(SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos.<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cWhen the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe
\nKachikwu raised allegation of award of $25 billion contracts without
\nfollowing due process against the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the
\nNigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC); Dr. Maikanti Baru, the
\nPresidency was the one that defended him (Baru).<\/p>\n
\u201cAlso, President Buhari has refused to act on the report of the
\ncommittee that investigated the $43 million discovered in an apartment
\nat Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, despite that Nigerians have been
\nasking him to act on it.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu was indicted of
\ncorruption by the Department of State Service (DSS) and all that was
\ndone by President Buhari was to ask the Attorney General of the
\nFederation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to
\ninvestigate the DSS report. Up till today, nothing has been heard
\nabout it and Magu, despite his rejection by the Senate, Magu is still
\nacting as the EFCC chairman.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was also under this government of Buhari that Ahmed Gambo Saleh;
\nthe Supreme Court Registrar was indicted and put on trial for alleged
\nover N2 billion fraud. The case against Gambo Saleh was withdrawn
\nalmost immediately, and he has been appointed the Secretary of the
\nNational Judicial Council (NJC). Not only that, he was made the
\nSecretary of the Corruption and Financial Crime Cases Trial Monitoring
\nCommittee, headed by Retired Justice Isa Ayo Salami .<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the words of APC Senator, Shehu Sani, \u2018when it comes to fighting
\ncorruption in the National Assembly and the Judiciary and in the
\nlarger Nigerian sectors, the President uses insecticide, but when it
\ncomes to fighting corruption within the Presidency, they use
\ndeodorants.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I have said several times, as far as President Buhari is
\nconcerned, corruption involving his men is family affair, and one
\nwon\u2019t be surprised if Maina is rewarded with bigger office very soon,
