The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Winifred
\nOyo-Ita has countered the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, who
\non Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0blamed her office for the reinstatement of the former Chairman
\nof the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina<\/p>\n

Oyo-Ita\u00a0on Monday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0denied approving the reinstatement of Maina into the
\nFederal Civil Service in a statement signed by the Assistant Director of
\nMedia Relations at the HCSF, Mr Mohammed Manga.<\/p>\n

The statement read, \u201cThe attention of the Office of the Head of the Civil
\nService of the Federation has been drawn to several media reports that the
\nHead of the Civil Service of the Federation has approved the reinstatement
\ninto the Federal Civil Service of Alhaji Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina and
\nhis subsequent posting to the Ministry of Interior.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF) wishes to inform
\nthe public that the reinstatement and posting of Alhaji Abdulrasheed
\nAbdullahi Maina never emanated from the Office of the Head of the Civil
\nService of the Federation.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsequently, the purported reinstatement and posting by the Office of
\nthe Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is totally erroneous and
\nmisleading.\u201d<\/p>\n

This statement by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation counters
\nDambazau\u2019s statement who had earlier denied responsibility for Maina\u2019s
\nrecall.<\/p>\n

Dambazau blamed Maina\u2019s recall on the office of the HCSF and the Federal
\nCivil Service Commission in a statement by his Press Secretary, Ehisienmen
\nOsaigbovo, denied responsibility for Maina\u2019s recall to service<\/p>\n

The statement explained that Maina \u201cwas posted a few days ago to the
\nMinistry of Interior by the Office of the Head of Service in an Acting
\ncapacity to fill a vacancy created following the retirement of the
\nDirector heading the Human Resources Department in the Ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the two bodies are responsible for \u201cissues relating to Discipline,
\nEmployment, Re-engagement, Posting, Promotion and Retirements of Federal
\nCivil Servants.\u201d<\/p>\n

This denial by HCSF comes amid calls by prominent Nigerians, including the
\nChairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption,
\nProfessor Itse Sagay, and human rights lawyer Mr Femi Falana, who asked
\nthe Presidency to order Maina\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

The reactions seemed to have prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to order
\nthe immediate dismissal of the former task force chairman from the Federal
\nCivil Service.<\/p>\n

President Buhari, in a memo to the HCSF, also demanded a full report of
\nthe circumstances of Maina\u2019s recall and posting to the Ministry of
\nInterior, which he said must be submitted before the end of work today
