{"id":60101,"date":"2017-11-05T19:47:59","date_gmt":"2017-11-05T18:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=60101"},"modified":"2017-11-05T19:47:59","modified_gmt":"2017-11-05T18:47:59","slug":"presidency-sacks-obono-obla-presidential-committee-banned-press-interviews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/presidency-sacks-obono-obla-presidential-committee-banned-press-interviews\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidency Sacks Obono Obla From Presidential Committee, Banned From Press Interviews"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Federal Government has directed the Chairman of the Special<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property, Chief Okoi<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Obono-Obla to desist from carrying out any operation in his capacity as<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">head of the panel.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">In a letter addressed to the panel\u2019s chairman dated November 1st, 2017<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">with file number HAGF\/SH\/2017\/VOL\/1\/60 and signed by the Honourable<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Malami it states that this was based on the strength that\u00a0Obono-Obla\u2019s<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">actions of late have run contrary to the enabling act establishing it.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The letter also notes that the activities of the panel have contravened<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">established administrative procedures and protocols in the nation\u2019s civil<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">service structure, insisting his immediate and strict compliance with the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">directives.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Obla is also instructed to henceforth seek clearance from the AGF before<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">granting any media interview or making press releases on official matters,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">while he is directed to promptly provide a detailed up-to-date report on<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the activities of the panel to the Minister for onward transmission to the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Malami\u2019s letter titled, Re: Directive In Respect of Chief Okoi Obono-Obla,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Chairman of The Special Investigation Panel on The Recovery of Public<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Property emanates from an earlier one sent to him by the Vice President.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">It read thus that, \u201cI have received a letter Ref. SH\/OVP\/DCOS\/FMJ\/0424<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">dated 20th October, 2017 in respect of the above subject from the Office<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of the Vice President.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIn the said letter, the Vice President expressed his concerns on the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">activities of the Special Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Property which runs contrary to the enabling Act establishing it.
