The Supreme Court will on November 15, hear a suit challenging the<\/p>\n
qualification of
\nGovernor Okezie Ikpeazu as the candidate of the Peoples
\nDemocratic Party (PDP)
\nin Abia State in the 2015 election.<\/p>\n
A chieftain
\nof the PDP, Sir Friday Nwosu, who ran for the December 8,
\n2014, PDP governorship
\nprimaries in Abia State, had accused Ikpeazu of submitting
\nfalse information
\nand fake tax receipts to INEC and PDP. Nwosu prayed the
\ncourt to disqualify
\nIkpeazu and declare him the lawful PDP candidate and
\ngovernor of Abia State.
\nThe case which is a pre lection matter had suffered serious
\ndelays as Ikpeazu
\nhas made several moves to ensure it was not
\nheard.<\/p>\n
According
\nto a hearing notice signed by the
\nRegistrar of the Supreme Court, Mrs. George Oloto .O, Suit
\nNo. SC\/693\/ 2017,
\nSir Friday Nwosu vs PDP, INEC, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and
\nDr. Uche
\nOgah, has been fixed for hearing, on November
\n15th, at the Supreme
\nCourt.<\/p>\n
A 5 man
\npanel of the Court of Appeal had on July 18, declined
\njudgment on the suit
\ninsisting that it was the same Uchechukwu Ogah vs Okezie
\nIkpeazu suit decided
\nby the Supreme Court on May 12, 2017. But Nwosu described
\nthe verdict as a
\nmiscarriage of justice by the panel.<\/p>\n

\ngathered that the Abia governor had become too desperate as
\nthe apex court
\nbegins hearing on the matter. Sources close to Ikpeazu said
\nhis lawyers had
\nwarned him to seek a political solution to the suit as the
\nSupreme Court cannot
\nignore the obvious false information and discrepancies on
\nhis tax receipts. The
\nAbia governor had made several attempts to compromise the
\nJustices of the
\nSupreme Court through the Director General of the Department
\nof State Services
\n(DSS), Lawal Daura, who he bought a mansion for at
\nAsokoro.<\/p>\n
Ikpeazu
\nand his godfather, Theodore Orji, have
\nboasted at several fora that they have the means to
\ncompromise the Justices of
\nthe Supreme Court to deliver justice in their
\nfavour.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile,
\nin what could be described as a lack of respect for the
\nhierarchy of courts in
\nthe country, Ikpeazu has filed a state at the Abia State
\nHigh Courts, sitting
\nat Aba an Omoba, in suits Nos, A\/
\n242\/17, Ikpeazu vs Friday Nwosu and HOM \/9\/17\/ , TA Orji vs
\nFriday Nwosu. Theodore
\nOrji\u2019s son, Chinedum also filed a suit against, all
\nclaiming N1 billion.<\/p>\n

\nChinedum, are pleading
\nare the same Nwosu is canvassing at the Supreme Court
\nseeking for Ikpeazu\u2019s
\ndisqualification.<\/p>\n
The Supreme
\nCourt may have to decide Nwosu\u2019s appeal on time before
\nIkpeazu, Theodore Orji
\nand son, Ikuku, can claim any defamation damage arising from
\npresenting false
