{"id":60190,"date":"2017-11-15T09:43:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-15T08:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=60190"},"modified":"2017-11-15T09:43:00","modified_gmt":"2017-11-15T08:43:00","slug":"ig-explains-obianos-security-withdrawn-days-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ig-explains-obianos-security-withdrawn-days-election\/","title":{"rendered":"IG Explains Why Obiano&#8217;s Security Was withdrawn Few days To Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ibrahim Idris, the inspector-general of police, says the withdrawal of the<br \/>\nsecurity aides attached to Anambra governor Willie Obiano was to prevent<br \/>\nthe re-occurrence of past elections.<\/p>\n<p>Idris gave the explanation during election stakeholders\u2019 forum organised<br \/>\nby the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday in<br \/>\nAwka.<\/p>\n<p>Obiano had during the forum raised the alarm that he woke up on Tuesday<br \/>\nmorning to find that his ADC had been directed by the police high command<br \/>\nto vacate him.<\/p>\n<p>He said the directive had put his life in danger, describing the act as an<br \/>\nunacceptable and unfair treatment to his person and office.<\/p>\n<p>The governor noted that his standing for re-election did not remove the<br \/>\nfact that he was the chief security officer of the state.<\/p>\n<p>But the IGP said the withdrawal was based on the previous experience<br \/>\nwhereby the military caught an ADC to an unnamed governor escorting a<br \/>\nvehicle loaded with arms on election day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not mean anything bad to Anambra governor on this action; his ADC<br \/>\nwill be returned to him early\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_366633856\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0morning after the governorship<br \/>\nelection on\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_366633857\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday Nov.18<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have equally withdrawn all the policemen attached to political<br \/>\nappointees, Local Government Chairmen and others in Anambra till after the<br \/>\nelection,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Idris also said the police force had deployed 26, 000 personnel, 300<br \/>\nvehicles, three helicopters and 15 gunboats for the poll.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ibrahim Idris, the inspector-general of police, says the withdrawal of the security aides attached to Anambra governor Willie Obiano was to prevent the re-occurrence of past elections.
