President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the people of Anambra State, the
\ngovernorship candidates, the Independent National Electoral Commission
\n(INEC), election observers as well as security agencies and other
\nstakeholders, on the peaceful conduct of the November 18 gubernatorial
\nelection in the state.<\/p>\n
According to the President, \u201cthe processes leading to the election and its
\npeaceful conduct and outcome, have shown that our electoral reform is
\nbearing positive fruits. This is very encouraging and I am determined to
\ngive Nigeria free and fair elections, no matter which way the results
\nswing.\u201d<\/p>\n
He particularly expressed delight at the conduct of the candidates
\npost-election results, describing it as \u201cheart-warming and a renewal of
\nconfidence in the sanctity of the ballot which deepens our nation\u2019s
\ndemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Buhari urged INEC to improve on areas of logistics as the nation
\nbraces for coming governorship elections and the main general elections in
\n2019.<\/p>\n
The President while congratulating Governor Willie Obiano on his
\nre-election, urged him to rededicate himself to building on his
\nachievements that endeared him to the electorate and swayed the
\noverwhelming majority of votes in his favour.<\/p>\n
President Buhari assured the Governor-elect that the Federal Government is
\nready to work with him for the greater harmony, peace and development of
\nnot only Anambra State but the entire country.
