Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has reiterated his administration\u2019s
\ndetermination to make Sokoto an economic and industrial hub, and a
\npreferred investment destination in the country.<\/p>\n
He stated this when the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China to
\nNigeria, Mr. Zhou Pingjian, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House,
\nSokoto.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working round the clock to engage new development partners and
\nattract more direct investments into our state. This visit offers both our
\ngovernments an ample opportunity to build stronger ties and establish a
\nmore beneficial working relationship.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur policy thrust is to open our doors to willing investors. We are keen
\non sharing ideas and partnering the Chinese Embassy on ways to boost trade,
\nagriculture, energy, rural development and improve economic relations
\nbetween and among our peoples,\u201d Tambuwal said.<\/p>\n
According to the Governor, Sokoto is endowed with natural and human
\nresources that offer abundant investment opportunities for all willing
\ninvestors.<\/p>\n
With particular reference to energy, Tambuwal the state has five viable
\nsources of energy which include hydro, wind, solar, gas and coal.<\/p>\n
While thanking the envoy for supporting the state government with
\ninstructional materials after it declared a state of emergency on education
\nsector in the state, Tambuwal said government is working assiduously to
\nimplement past MoUs entered into with Chinese entities.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Ambassador said it\u2019s gratifying to note that Nigeria
\nand China have a long diplomatic history, stressing the need to build on
\nsuch history for the mutual benefit both countries.<\/p>\n
He noted that China was eager to make greater investments in Sokoto, given
\nthe huge potential that abounds in the state.<\/p>\n
He thanked Governor Tambuwal for creating an enabling environment for
\nbusinesses to thrive and assured that they were ready to provide a
\nfacilitation and assistance to help the state to cooperate with the Chinese
