Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the Special
\nAnti-robbery Squad (SARS) is being prepared by the authorities for the
\nrigging of the 2019 General Elections .<\/p>\n
Governor Wike stated that the so-called review of the operation of SARs
\nfollowing the outcry by Nigerians over the deadly illegal acts of the
\norganisation, is merely aimed at diverting public focus.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Board of Editors of Sun Publishing
\nLimited at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike
\ndescribed SARS as a gang of criminals, leading Nigeria\u00a0 to disaster.<\/p>\n
The Management of Sun Publishing Limited led by its Managing Director, Mr
\nEric Osagie visited to present the letter of nomination to the Rivers
\nState Governor as Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2017.<\/p>\n
He said: “SARS\u00a0 is being prepared for the rigging\u00a0 of elections in 2019.
\nTime has come for people to\u00a0 resist these criminals in uniform because
\nthey cannot\u00a0 kill everyone.<\/p>\n
“SARS has not helped in Rivers State. Rather they perpetrate criminal
\nactivities.\u00a0 With the sustained activities of SARS, Nigeria is heading for
\ndisaster “.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that when Rivers State Government alerted the nation on the
\ncriminal activities of SARS across the state, the authorities disregarded
\nthe evidence presented.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike added that the same thing happened when the Inspector
\nGeneral of Police deliberately withdrew\u00a0 his security details\u00a0 to\u00a0 give
\nthe APC an advantage.<\/p>\n
He said: “When the Inspector General of Police took\u00a0 his impunity to
\nAnambra State and withdrew the Security details of the Anambra State
\nGovernor, the Senate\u00a0 quickly intervened because\u00a0 they knew that the acts
\nof lawlessness of the Inspector General of Police was getting close”.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the award by the Sun Newspaper, Governor Wike said it will
\nspur him to continue\u00a0 the execution of projects across the state.<\/p>\n
He said that as long as the award is based on the tangible of projects
\ndelivery, Rivers State will continue to emerge victorious.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Managing Director of Sun Publishing Limited, Mr Eric Osagie said
\nfor the first time in 15 years, Governor Wike has emerged as the first
\nperson to win the Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year back to back.<\/p>\n
He said that Governor Wike was voted by the Sun Board of Editors ” for his
\nincessant ground breaking infrastructural projects across Rivers State “.<\/p>\n
Osagie said Governor Wike will receive the award on February 24, 2018 in
\nLagos. The Sun Publishing Limited lauded the governor for his
