{"id":60789,"date":"2018-01-26T21:31:42","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T20:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=60789"},"modified":"2018-01-26T21:31:42","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T20:31:42","slug":"apc-cooked-up-indices-will-not-help-buhari-says-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/apc-cooked-up-indices-will-not-help-buhari-says-pdp\/","title":{"rendered":"APC Cooked Up Indices Will Not Help Buhari, Says PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said the indices<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">presented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled Federal<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Government in the attempt to justify its claimed achievements in almost<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">three years of governance were cooked up and will be unhelpful to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President Mohammadu Buhari at the 2019 elections.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The party further said the Federal Government arrogantly issued<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">misleading indices at a time it ought to be very sober for its failures,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">thereby exposing the level of scorn and disdain it has for suffering<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in the statement<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">said the Federal Government has refused to understand that the issues<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">raised by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for which he advised<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President Buhari not to seek re-election, are already trending in the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">minds of Nigerians and cannot be dismissed with doctored reports and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">half truths.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The party also described as highly unfortunate the resort to falsehood<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">by the Federal Government while cleverly glossing over very serious<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">issues of deteriorating economy, incessant killings, fuel crisis,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">corruption in the corridors of power and absolute failure of governance<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">as raised by Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The PDP said it amounts to executive rascality for the APC Federal<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Government to use its Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">falsely claim that the economy, which it wrecked, has come out of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">recession, when the glaring reality shows skyrocketing costs, soaring<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">unemployment rate, unabating closure of businesses as well as<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">accumulation of foreign and domestic debts.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">In its attempt to further hoodwink Nigerians, the Federal Government<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">through the minister of information cleverly stated that the nations<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Foreign Reserves had risen to $40bn, while covering the fact presented<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) that our foreign debt has<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">also escalated to $15.2bn under APCs misrule.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">This is also a government whose domestic debt profile has scared many<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">contractors off their sites and forcing millions of Nigerians into the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">labour market while development projects initiated by the PDP across the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">nation remains stagnated.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Federal Government also failed to inform Nigerians that other<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">foreign financial instruments are being depleted, including the Excess<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Crude Account (ECA), from which they attempted to pilfer $1bn last year.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">It is ridiculous for the APC-led Federal Government to rely on an NBS<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">report in giving an impression that the nations inflation rate has<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">fallen at 15.37% while hiding the fact that inflation rate as at May<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">2015, when it took over rein of governance from the PDP, was 13.7%.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">This is even as the soaring price of commodities exposes the fact that<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">15.37% is not positive, as the APC government wants Nigerians to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">believe.
