The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described as sad
\nand strange, the tacit support by the All Progressives Congress (APC)
\nin the State for the killings and destruction of farmlands being
\nperpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.<\/p>\n
State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo, made this
\nknow while reacting to reported comment by the APC Deputy Chairman,
\nChief Kemi Olaleye that States Anti-Grazing Law pioneered by the Ekiti
\nState Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose and farmers should be blamed for
\nkillings by Fulani herdsmen.<\/p>\n
Adebayo said in a press statement issued on Monday, that it was
\nstrange that the APC never said a word to condemn the murder of
\ninnocent sons and daughter of Ekiti State as well as destruction of
\npeople farmlands.<\/p>\n
The PDP said instead of showing empathy and supporting the efforts of
\nthe State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose to end the herdsmens menace,
\nthe APC and its leaders have been inciting the herdsmen, especially
\nits umbrella organization, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders
\nAssociation against the government.<\/p>\n
The party said; They are even saying that they will create cattle
\ncolonies in the State if they return to power and we wonder how a
\nresponsible political party will because of quest for power go into
\nagreement that will cede lands in the State to people who are
\nembarking on wanton killings and destruction of farmlands.<\/p>\n
If they claim they are not giving tacit support to herdsmen, Ekiti
\npeople should ask the APC people one single press statement they
\nissued to condemn the killings by herdsmen and called for arrest of
\nthe perpetrators.<\/p>\n
Rather than condemning the herdsmen killings in Oke Oke, Orin,
\nOkemesi, Aiyede, Ipao and other places, what the APC and its obviously
\nheartless leaders have been doing is to criticize Governor Fayose for
\nthe anti-grazing law and visiting Benue State to commiserate with
\nGovernor Samuel Ortom and the people of the State over the killings of
\n73 people by herdsmen.<\/p>\n
The PDP admonished the APC in Ekiti State to desist from playing
\npolitics with the lives of the people, noting that support for
\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari should not be translated to giving support
\nfor crimes committed by Fulani herdsmen.<\/p>\n
