The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds firmly that Nigerians should
\nhold President Muhammadu Buhari-led Presidency directly responsible for
\nthe abduction of schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state and several other
\natrocities committed by insurgents against citizens, particularly in the
\nnorthern part of the country.<\/p>\n
The Buhari Presidency has put Nigerians at risk by deceiving the people
\nand issuing false performance indices suggesting that insurgents have
\nbeen completely routed out, a situation which made our unsuspecting
\ncitizens trust a lie and dropped their guards in the face of real
\nthreats and danger.<\/p>\n
Without doubt, if the incompetent All Progressives Congress (APC)-led
\ngovernment had not dished out lies to the people in a bid to score cheap
\npolitical points for its ill-lucked 2019 re-election bid, more
\nprecautionary measures would have been adopted by the affected
\ncommunities to ensure adequate protection.<\/p>\n
While Nigerians are appalled by APCs recourse to false indices in
\ncritical sectors, it is however, to say the least, an inexcusable height
\nof wickedness to give a vulnerable people a false assurance of security
\nwhen they are actually in danger.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the PDP decries as iniquitous, the efforts by
\nAPC-controlled federal authorities to suppress information on the
\nabduction, leading to conflicting reports and frustrating of rescue
\nmission, just because they seek to hide the failures of the presidency
\nin ensuring the safety of Nigerians, particularly in the north.<\/p>\n
We were shocked that in their proclivity to deceive, the authorities
\nearlier informed Nigerians that some of the girls have been recovered
\nonly for the news to turn out to be false.<\/p>\n
While President Buhari has not uttered any word of assurance,
\nGovernments visiting team headed by the Minister of Information and
\nCulture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed only had a whistle stop at the Dapchi
\nschool and made no effort to interface or even commiserate with
\ncommunity leaders and parents of the abducted girls, while completely
\nshutting out the media. This only further confirms APCs insensitivity
\nto the plight of Nigerians.<\/p>\n
It is more irking that the President and Commander-in-Chief will
\npublicly provide a day an asymmetry war will come to an end as if acts
\nof insurgency are fought like a conventional warfare.<\/p>\n
It is painful that Nigerians are faced today with a government that has
\nbeen heavy on propaganda and issuing of false statistics, while playing
\ndown on several atrocities committed against defenseless citizens.<\/p>\n
Under the PDP, Nigerians were never told lies on the true situation of
\nthe state of affairs in all sectors, particularly security. The PDP-led
\ngovernment constantly briefed Nigerians and carried all stakeholders
\nalong in our concerted effort in securing lives and property in our
\nnation.<\/p>\n
Nigerians and indeed the world must hold the Buhari Presidency and the
\nAPC-led Federal Government directly responsible for the abduction of
\nthese defenseless schoolgirls as well as the killings in our country
\ntoday.<\/p>\n
While the PDP stands with the parents of the abducted girls at this
\nmoment of their harrowing pains and prays for their speedy return, we
\nimplore our security forces to insulate themselves from APC propaganda,
\ntake very decisive professional steps to recover our girls and end the
\nkillings in our country.<\/p>\n
