President Muhammadu Buhari is planning trips to Benue, Taraba, Zamfara,
\nYobe and Rivers states, which have recorded different forms of violence in
\n2018.<\/p>\n

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity,
\ndisclosed this in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n

In view of recent terrorist attacks, criminal activities and communal
\nclashes in some States leading to tragic loss of lives and kidnapping of
\n110 schoolgirls, President Muhammadu Buhari immediately tasked the Armed
\nForces and other Security agencies to compile comprehensive reports on the
\nvarious incidents, the statement read.<\/p>\n

Having received and studied the Reports, the President has decided to
\nundertake an on the spot assessment of the various occurrences and to meet
\nand console the communities affected.<\/p>\n

From today, March 5, he will visit Taraba, and subsequently Benue, Yobe,
\nZamfara and Rivers States.<\/p>\n

President Buhari has been receiving daily briefings, and has been in
\nconstant touch with the Governors, and has been updated with situation
\nreports.<\/p>\n

The president calls on all Nigerians especially those in the affected
\nareas to cooperate fully with the security agencies to enable them curb
\nthe spate of crimes, bring those responsible to justice and prevent
\nfurther occurrences.<\/p>\n

The development comes weeks after the president was criticised for not
\nvisiting the states to sympathise with the people.<\/p>\n

On Saturday<\/span><\/span>, images of the president at a wedding ceremony in Kano sparked
\nnegative reactions on social media.<\/p>\n
