{"id":61263,"date":"2018-03-21T14:52:56","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T13:52:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=61263"},"modified":"2018-03-21T14:52:56","modified_gmt":"2018-03-21T13:52:56","slug":"sss2-student-arrested-with-gun-inside-class-in-bayelsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/sss2-student-arrested-with-gun-inside-class-in-bayelsa\/","title":{"rendered":"SSS2 Student Arrested With Gun Inside Class In Bayelsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 15-year-old pupil at the Community Secondary School, Akenfa-Epie, in the<br \/>\nYenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, identified only as<br \/>\nEmmanuel, has been arrested with a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel was allegedly arrested<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_109970791\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span>with a locally-made pistol<br \/>\nduring lecture hours.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the teenager was apprehended while in school uniform by<br \/>\nsome indigenes of Akenfa community, led by a vigilance group, and handed<br \/>\nover to the police, Punch reports.<\/p>\n<p>The pupil was reportedly searched by the vigilante youths after he was<br \/>\naccused of involvement in some criminal activities, including robbery.<\/p>\n<p>The school authorities, however, denied that the suspect was a pupil at<br \/>\nthe school.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the school management team, who spoke on condition of<br \/>\nanonymity, added that Emmanuel was not arrested in the school.<\/p>\n<p>He said, The boy was not arrested in the classroom. The uniform he wore<br \/>\nis common among pupils in the state and so, it is not correct to say that<br \/>\nhe is a pupil at the school.<\/p>\n<p>The arrested teenager was handed over to the Akenfa Police Station for<br \/>\nonward transfer to the command headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat,<br \/>\nconfirmed the arrest of the teenager.<\/p>\n<p>He said, The suspected cult member was arrested with a locally-made<br \/>\npistol<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_109970792\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span>around<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_109970793\"><span class=\"aQJ\">9.30am.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The suspect is 15 years old and a resident of Agudama area of Yenagoa.<br \/>\nInvestigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>It will be recalled that four teenage gunmen, suspected to be members of<br \/>\nan unknown cult, recently attacked a secondary school in the state<br \/>\ncapital.<br \/>\nThe gunmen, who brandished guns, caused pandemonium in the school as<br \/>\nconfused pupils and staff ran in different directions for safety.<\/p>\n<p>The invasion of the school came a few hours after the Bayelsa State<br \/>\nGovernment, through the Ministry of Education, expelled seven pupils over<br \/>\ntheir alleged membership of a cult.<\/p>\n<p>The government had admitted to the existence of cult activities in both<br \/>\nprimary and secondary schools in the state, saying it was making efforts<br \/>\nto address the problem.<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\">\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 15-year-old pupil at the Community Secondary School, Akenfa-Epie, in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, identified only as Emmanuel, has been arrested with a gun.
