Julius Maada Bio (retd) who took<br \/>\ncharge\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_156806951\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as the country\u2019s new leader.<\/p>\n<p>Bio who contested as the candidate of Sierra Leone People\u2019s Party<br \/>\n(SLPP) clinched victory by winning 51.81 percent of the votes in the<br \/>\nMarch 31 run-off while Samura Kamara of the All People\u2019s Congress<br \/>\n(APC) won 48.19 percent.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by Jonathan\u2019s spokesman, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, said the<br \/>\nformer President who led the election observation Mission of the<br \/>\nElectoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa, (EISA), to<br \/>\nSierra Leone also congratulated the people of Sierra Leone for their<br \/>\npeaceful conduct during the elections.<\/p>\n<p>Describing Bio\u2019s victory as a demonstration of his people\u2019s trust in<br \/>\nhis abilities, Jonathan urged the new President to work for the<br \/>\nbenefit of all. The ex-President stated this\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_156806952\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in a goodwill<br \/>\nmessage to President Bio.<\/p>\n<p>The goodwill message read:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI congratulate you on your election victory and convey my best<br \/>\nwishes, as you assume responsibilities of the Office of the President<br \/>\nof the Republic of Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough you, I also congratulate the people of Sierra Leone for going<br \/>\nthrough this phase of their political life, peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour historic triumph at the polls is a clear demonstration of the<br \/>\ntrust Sierra Leoneans have placed in you and in your abilities to make<br \/>\ntheir lives better and lift your great country to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge you to adopt the principle of \u2018no victor, no vanquished\u2019 and<br \/>\nsee your victory and Presidency as that of all Sierra Leoneans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI pray that Almighty God will guide and protect you in this important<br \/>\nassignment of leading your country to further greatness.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated winner of Sierra Leone\u2019s President election, Brig.
