The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused President Muhammodu
\nBuhari of shrouding his private visit to London as official.<\/p>\n
The party said President Buhari left the country on Monday, April 9,
\n2018 for London and arrived his destination same day.<\/p>\n
It is instructive to note that Mr. President has not conducted a single
\nbusiness of government 72hrs after his arrival in UK.<\/p>\n
More astonishing is the fact that President Buhari\u00a0 did not transmit a
\nletter to the National Assembly indicating that he was going on a week’s
\nvacation ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM).<\/p>\n
PDP demands that the National Assembly save the nation from an imminent
\nconstitutional crisis by immediately commencing processes to address the
\ncurrent power vacuum in the country, following President Muhammadu
\nBuhari\u2019s decision to embark on a private trip abroad without officially
\ntransmitting power to the Vice President.<\/p>\n
The intervention of the federal legislature has become a national
\nimperative, as the President\u2019s action has put the nation in clear
\ndanger.<\/p>\n
Nigeria is at the moment bereft of statutory leadership, including the
\napparatus of security command, particularly as President Buhari had not
\nindicated a date of return to the country.<\/p>\n
The PDP and of course, Nigerians at large, are particularly worried that
\nin the event of any national emergency, there is no sitting
\ncommander-in-chief to take charge.<\/p>\n
It is incontrovertible that President Buhari is on a private trip to the
\nUnited Kingdom (UK) as he was not received on arrival, by the government
\nof that country; has not had any contact with the British Prime
\nMinister, Theresa May or any high officials of the UK government and has
\nnot conducted any official business since his arrival to the country on
\nMonday.<\/p>\n
Since Monday, President Buhari has been holidaying in London and has
\nbeen unable to discharge the functions of his Office, in total disregard
\nto the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, disdain to Nigerians and
\nflagrant abuse of his presidential office.<\/p>\n
By embarking on this vacation and abdicating his official functions
\nwithout transmitting a written declaration to the President of the
\nSenate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and holding on
\nto power while on vacation, President Buhari acted in gross violation of
\nSection 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).<\/p>\n

\nignored, in total disdain to the sensibilities of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

\nour dear nation.<\/p>\n
