Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has charged new Caretaker<\/div>\n
Committee Chairmen\u00a0 in the state to strive to serve their people<\/div>\n
diligently .<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Swearing in the Caretaker Committee Chairmen and a Commissioner at the<\/div>\n
Government House Port Harcourt on Monday, Governor Wike advised them<\/div>\n
against pursuing financial gains.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The governor said no amount of wealth gained through\u00a0 fraudulent means<\/div>\n
while serving\u00a0 in councils will sustain the new council chiefs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He\u00a0 said: “My advice is that\u00a0 you should use\u00a0 the two months of your<\/div>\n
service to leave a legacy behind. If you serve to the satisfaction of your<\/div>\n
people, it is to your advantage”.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He directed all local government areas in the state to build office<\/div>\n
accommodation for the Rivers State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Agency.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The governor said that in the interim, the councils should provide office<\/div>\n
spaces for the neighbourhood safety corps agency, pending the construction<\/div>\n
of their offices.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The governor warned the council caretaker committee chairmen against using<\/div>\n
council resources to sponsor candidates for local government primaries.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He stated that the party has cancelled the PDP councillorship primaries of<\/div>\n
Degema Local Government Area. He added that all the chairmanship aspirants<\/div>\n
from that area have been disqualified on account of violent conduct.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Governor Wike also said\u00a0 that the same situation may apply\u00a0 to Asari-Toru<\/div>\n
Local Government Area where there are signs of violent conduct by the<\/div>\n
aspirants and their supporters.<\/div>\n
