Hon. Ude Chukwu, have called on disputing communities of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Imo and Abia States over boundary claims to embrace dialogue with a view<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">to achieving a lasting peace.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Deputy Governors of Imo and Abia States made the call had after<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">responding to a distress call over violent exchange between Uturu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">autonomous community in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">sister community, Ihube in Okigwe local government area of Imo State.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">After bringing the disorderly disputants under control with the help of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">security agencies, Prince Madumere called on the traditional rulers and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">other community leaders of the communities to embrace peace and dialogue.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He reminded the natives of the communities involved of their ancestral<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">affinity, saying they ought to relate as brothers and sisters.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He emphasized that the creation of more States and communities, which<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">hitherto existed as one, were mainly for administrative convenience.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">His words: \u201cI am of the view that Imo and Abia States remain one people.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">That we were divided is for administrative convenience. I believe that the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">best approach to resolving this disagreement is to first embrace one<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">another as one. I also expect the traditional rulers here and other<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">community leaders to also initiate a peace move through dialogue. I<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">believe that if we wish to have a lasting peace, we must agree among<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">ourselves and that is the only bankable roadmap to sustainable peace.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Speaking earlier, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Chukwu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">urged the disputing communities to come to the consciousness of the danger<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of crises and ultimately the State of anarchy where progress and security<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of lives and property may not be guaranteed.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">In the same vein, he collaborated with Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Madumere that the best approach to finding lasting solution and peace must<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">be hinged on dialogue since no outsider can satisfactorily resolve their<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">differences.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He therefore urged the disputants to come together to discuss and come to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">an agreeable boundary, on which National Boundary Commission can yield in<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">their final demarcation exercise.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Meanwhile, the Chairmen of the local government areas and the traditional<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">rulers from both sides spoke in affirmative, urging for the intervention<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of the two governments.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Meanwhile, economic trees especially Cashew is said to be the major object<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of contention.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"H_7jIs D_F ab_C Q_69H5 E_36RhU\" data-test-id=\"toolbar-hover-area\">\n<div class=\"D_F W_6D6F r_BN gl_C\" data-test-id=\"card-toolbar\">\n<div class=\"D_F ab_C en_0 b_Z14vXdP e_3mS2U I_52qC P_Z1otBpf\">\n<hr class=\"M_0 P_0 cn_0\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere with his Abia counterpart, Rt.
