{"id":61806,"date":"2018-04-20T17:42:13","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T16:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=61806"},"modified":"2018-04-20T17:42:13","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T16:42:13","slug":"tony-elumelu-says-govt-policies-hinder-african-youths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/tony-elumelu-says-govt-policies-hinder-african-youths\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Elumelu Says Govt Policies Hinder African Youths"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>The chairman of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu, has said that government policies have become major hindrances to successes of endeavors of youths in Africa.<\/div>\n<p>He spoke at the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, youths in Africa are \u201cdetermined, energetic, hungry to succeed and make a difference and are extremely intelligent,\u201d but he noted \u201cthe environment makes it difficult for them to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"m_4142829809102976988ydp2c082c73signature\">\n<p>Elumelu said African governments must make the youths a priority in their various endeavors.<\/p>\n<p>He said \u201cGovernments need to understand that if we prioritize the young ones and make the operating environment conducive, they would be able to optimize the required intellects, they would do well and we would be able to solve some of the problems in the continent<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, regulation is major, intellectual property is very important, incentivizing investors are all factors that will help us address these issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigital connectivity is a major issue in Africa and you can\u2019t fix it if you don\u2019t have reliable access to electricity.
