The House of Representatives has resolved\u00a0to summoned President Muhammadu Buhari over the security situation in the country.<\/em><\/div>\n
\n

The House will suspend sitting for three days in solidarity with Nigerians over the killings in the country.<\/p>\n

This follows the recent killing of 19 people including two priests by suspected herdsmen\u00a0in Ayar-Mbalom community, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.<\/p>\n

The armed men reportedly stormed the St. Ignatius\u2019 Catholic Church, during an early morning mass\u00a0on Tuesday<\/span><\/span>, killing the priests and others members.<\/p>\n

Angered by these numerous\u00a0attacks,\u00a0the\u00a0President described the killing of<\/a>worshippers and two priests at the Catholic Church as \u2018vile and satanic\u2019.<\/p>\n

He condoled with the government and people of Mbalom Community in Gwer East Local Government Area where the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

The President through his spokesman, Femi Adesina, said, \u201cI extend my sincere condolences to the government and people of Benue State, the Mbalom community, and especially the Bishop, priests and members of the St Ignatius\u2019 Catholic Church, whose premises was the unfortunate venue of the heinous killings by gunmen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis latest assault on innocent persons is particularly despicable. Violating a place of worship, killing priests and worshippers is not only vile, evil and satanic, it is clearly calculated to stoke up religious conflict and plunge our communities into endless bloodletting,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

He has\u00a0vowed hunt down the assailants and ensure that they pay for the sacrilege committed.<\/p>\n

However, the lawmakers have asked the President to declare the killer herdsmen terrorists.<\/p>\n

They are also calling for the sack of the Service Chiefs.<\/p>\n
