\nBuhari, Mallam Garba Shehu, has said the President is \u201cgreatly pained\u201d
\nover the continued violence in various parts of the country.<\/p>\n
He said this on Thursday while reacting to the fresh killings seven
\npersons in Guma local government area of Benue.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Shehu said the repeated acts of mass killings in the
\ncountry and Benue state in particular, \u201cpoint to the evil design of
\nenemies of peace and unity.\u201d<\/p>\n
While warning Nigerians against playing into the hands of \u201cthe agents of
\ndisunity\u201d, he quoted Buhari as saying these \u201cagents\u201d and their sponsors
\nplan to turn Nigerians against one another.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must resist all temptation to fall into this laid out plan,\u201d the
\nstatement read.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe president is greatly pained by this persistent violence and the total
\ndisregard for the sanctity of life by those he called \u2018these hideously
\nevil people who have no iota of respect for humanity, decency and
\ncivilization.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cThe president reiterates that the government will not rest on its oars in
\nits determination to fish out these barbarous mass murderers and their
\nclandestine sponsors.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident Buhari equally assures Nigerians that measures being put in
\nplace by the government will, sooner than later, bring to an end, these
\nextremely brutal and wanton killings.\u201d<\/p>\n
