{"id":62047,"date":"2018-05-05T15:58:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-05T14:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=62047"},"modified":"2018-05-05T15:58:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-05T14:58:00","slug":"i-joined-politics-to-fight-for-justice-and-fairness-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/i-joined-politics-to-fight-for-justice-and-fairness-buhari\/","title":{"rendered":"I Joined Politics To Fight For Justice And Fairness-Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-test-id=\"message-view-body\">\n<div class=\"msg-body P_wpofO iy_A\" data-test-id=\"message-view-body-content\">\n<div class=\"jb_0 X_6MGW N_6Fd5\">\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President Muhammadu Buhari says his participation in politics is out of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the need to intervene and fight for justice and fairness for the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buhari said he is not interested in riches but committed to serve<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigerians everywhere.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">publicity, quoted Buhari to have said this on Saturday at the All<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress held at Bayagida Model Primary<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">School, Katsina state.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">According to Buhari, he joined the political sphere of Nigeria when after<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">his retirement from the military, he saw that the country \u201cneeded an<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">intervention for fairness, justice\u201d.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He said the passion to serve and see real changes in the lives of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigerians inspired him to contest elections in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">and his desire for a second term in 2019.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buhari had said he is seeking re-election because of the \u201cclamour by<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Nigerians\u201d.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI am not in politics for fun, frivolity or to amass wealth, I have always<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">been driven by a deep sense of commitment to make a difference to the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">lives of our people,\u201d Buhari said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAfter my retirement from the army, or forceful retirement, I sat back and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">watched as events unfolded on the political turf, and realised the country<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">needed an intervention for fairness, justice and inclusion of Nigerians in<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the issues that affect their lives.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAfter going to the court so many times to challenge results of elections<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">in 2003, 2007 and 2011, and going up to the supreme\u00a0 court, I concluded<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">that ultimately it is God who determines who will win elections, and in<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">2015 I got here.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The president called for patience, maturity and orderliness as the 2019<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">elections\u2019 calendar begins to unfold, urging political parties, candidates<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">and the electorate to put the country first.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"H_7jIs D_F ab_C Q_69H5 E_36RhU\" data-test-id=\"toolbar-hover-area\">\n<div class=\"D_F W_6D6F r_BN gl_C\" data-test-id=\"card-toolbar\">\n<div class=\"D_F ab_C en_0 b_Z14vXdP e_3mS2U I_52qC P_Z1otBpf\">\n<hr class=\"M_0 P_0 cn_0\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari says his participation in politics is out of the need to intervene and fight for justice and fairness for the Nigerians.
