{"id":62116,"date":"2018-05-08T19:40:29","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T18:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=62116"},"modified":"2018-05-08T19:40:29","modified_gmt":"2018-05-08T18:40:29","slug":"pdp-says-buhari-cant-perform-with-ill-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/pdp-says-buhari-cant-perform-with-ill-health\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Says Buhari Can&#8217;t Perform With Ill-Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) has noted that President Muhammadu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buhari cannot effectively discharge his official duties as a result of his<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">ill health.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buttressing this point of view, the PDP said the President\u2019s latest<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">medical trip to the United Kingdom was a confirmation that \u201cPresident<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buhari is unwell, ailing and unfit to attend to state matters.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Addressing the media in Abuja on Tuesday, the National Publicity Secretary<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of the PDP, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said it\u2019s very unfortunate that the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President and his handlers had chosen to shroud the issue of his<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">persistent illness in secrecy whereas the government prides itself on<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">claims of transparency and integrity.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cNigerians will recall that shortly before the Commonwealth Heads of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Government Meeting (CHOGM) in April, Mr. President, without transmitting a<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">letter to the National Assembly, as required by the constitution,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">undertook a private visit to the UK, where his doctors are known to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">reside, five clear days ahead of CHOGM. Nigerians were left in the dark<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">for the period despite demands for full disclosure by the PDP.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOnly last week, two days after his departure from the United States where<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">he had gone for a state visit, Mr. President went \u2018missing\u2019 again. When<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">concerns began to mount on his whereabouts, the Presidency claimed he had<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">a \u2018technical stopover\u2019 in the UK, citing flight issues, only for<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">revelations to emerge from the same Presidency, on Monday, that Mr.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President was actually in the UK to see his doctors.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIn these circumstances, Nigerians were taken for granted, deceived and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">treated like lesser men and women without reasoning capacity, while our<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">nation, at those periods, was left with no leadership as Mr. President<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">refused to transmit power as required by the 1999 Constitution, as<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">amended\u201d.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">While stating that it has no objection to the President taking care of his<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">ailing health, the party said Nigerians have come to detest the deception,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">lies and beguiling that have trailed the handling of Buhari\u2019s\u00a0 health<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">issues.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The PDP said it\u2019s more concerned that Nigerians are being kept in the dark<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">about the nature of the President\u2019s ailment and the identity of the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">doctors and the hospital attending to him.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The main opposition deplored a situation where a siting President would<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">continue to embark on medical tourism abroad when his administration has<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">completely refused to address the poor state of the health sector in the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">country, even as medical personnel are currently on strike across the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">nation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cIn conclusion, we urge the Presidency to note that shrouding the issue of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">President Buhari\u2019s illness in secrecy, just for political gains, is<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">neither in the interest of the President nor that of our nation at large.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSordidly, the handlers of Mr. President appear to be more concerned about<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the next election instead of the consequences of a failing health and the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">blatant breaches of our constitution.
