The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the refusal by President
\nMuhammadu Buhari to address the devastating strike action by health
\nworkers across the country, is a clear manifestation of insensitivity to
\nthe plight and suffering of Nigerians.<\/p>\n
The PDP in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the Party
\nsaid instead of President Buhari showing more concern on the sufferings of
\nNigerians, he embarked on a political rally in Jigawa state.<\/p>\n
The statement reads:<\/p>\n
“We lament the anguish of hundreds of Nigerians who are abandoned and
\ndying by the day in our public hospitals, just because President Buhari
\nand his dysfunctional All Progressives Congress (APC) attach no
\nimportance to issues that concern the average Nigerian.<\/p>\n
“Is it not the height of insensitivity that while Nigerians in dire need
\nof medical attention are languishing, President Buhari abandoned them
\nwithout any form of intervention and embarked on medical tourism in
\nLondon with our common patrimony?<\/p>\n
“As if that was not enough, upon his return to Nigeria, instead of
\nsummoning an emergency meeting of critical stakeholders to find solution
\nto the problem, Mr. President abandoned the striking health workers and
\nchose to organize and attend a political rally in Jigawa state for a
\ndoomed 2019 re-election bid.<\/p>\n
“Such aloofness by the government is directly responsible for the
\nescalation of killings and bloodletting in Benue, Taraba, Adamawa,
\nPlateau, Kogi, Zamfara, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna states and others parts of
\nthe country, where marauders and insurgents are pillaging our citizens
\nas if overlooking the plight of Nigerians has become a state policy.<\/p>\n
“In the PDP, the health, security and welfare of Nigerians remain pivotal
\nto us and that is why we feel pained that compatriots are dying in their
\nnumbers because of the refusal of the Buhari-led APC administration to
\naddress the health workers\u2019 strike.<\/p>\n
“The PDP, therefore, stands with Nigerians at this critical time. We
\nidentify with the sick and those who have lost their loved ones under
\nthis present circumstance and urge all public-spirited individuals,
\nhumanitarian organizations and the international community to come to
\nthe aid of our nation, since it has become clear that the Buhari
\nadministration has no agenda for the health sector.<\/p>\n
“Furthermore, while we plead with the health workers to be open to ways
\nto solve the problem, we charge Nigerians to support one another and
\nadhere to all health etiquettes to forestall an outbreak of epidemic and
\nhealth crisis.<\/p>\n
“Finally, the world have now seen why Nigerians have reached a consensus
\nnot to allow this insensitive and anti-people APC administration to
\ncontinue beyond 2019.<\/p>\n
