The All Progressive Congress, APC, has appointed Governor Abubakar Atiku<\/div>\n
Bagudu of Kebbi State wanted in the United States for fraud, as Chairman<\/div>\n
of its 77member committee for Dr. Kayode Fayemi\u2019s campaign for Ekiti State<\/div>\n
Governorship slated for July 14, 2018.<\/div>\n

Atiku Bagudu is wanted in the United States of America for his involvement<\/div>\n
in the looting of over $600million during the reign of late General Sani<\/div>\n
Abacha, pointblanknews.com investigations revealed.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Bagudu, according to documents obtained by pointblanknews.com from the U.S<\/div>\n
Department of Justice, masterminded the stealing of millions of U.S<\/div>\n
Dollars from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, wired same to several<\/div>\n
foreign accounts through phony companies he set up for himself and the<\/div>\n
Abacha family.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The United States had in 2014 taken control of more than $480 million out<\/div>\n
of the over $600million looted by former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha,<\/div>\n
Bagudu, Mohammed Abacha and others after a court ruling, the U.S<\/div>\n
JusticeDepartment said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
However, litigations on the $148million is pending because Bagudu has<\/div>\n
refused to cooperate with investigators and overtures said to have been<\/div>\n
made to President Mohammadu Buhari on the matter during his U.S visit has<\/div>\n
not yielded any fruit, a USDOJ official informed pointblanknews.com on<\/div>\n
condition of anonymity.<\/div>\n

An email from Peter Carr of the U.S Department of Justice, USDOJ, to<\/div>\n
pointblanknews.com confirmed Bagudu\u2019s lack of cooperation on the crimes he<\/div>\n
committed against Nigeria and the United States and his fight to stop the<\/div>\n
forfeiture of $148million held in different portfolios in United Kingdom.<\/div>\n

Carr in the email to Pointblanknews.com said: \u201cAs you are probably aware,<\/div>\n
the Justice Department brought a civil forfeiture action against more than<\/div>\n
$600 million traced to corruption in Nigeria during the regime of Sani<\/div>\n
Abacha.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cAbubakar Bagudu, who is not cooperating with our investigation, is named<\/div>\n
in the complaint, which also lays out the government\u2019s position on his<\/div>\n
role. His relatives are contesting the forfeiture of over $100 million of<\/div>\n
the total the Justice Department is seeking to forfeit.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
However, the campaign council which was inaugurated by the APC Deputy<\/div>\n
National Chairman (North), Sen. Lawali Shuaibu on behalf of the National<\/div>\n
Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun consists of fourteen serving governors,<\/div>\n
ministers, some members of the Party\u2019s National Working Committee,<\/div>\n
National Assembly members and senior Party leaders.<\/div>\n

Speaking during the inauguration, Sen. Lawali Shuaibu while stressing the<\/div>\n
importance of the Ekiti governorship election to the Party, urged the<\/div>\n
campaign council to shun hate speech in its campaign message to the people<\/div>\n
of Ekiti.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Shuaibu: \u201cIn the exercise your assignment, please avoid hate speech. Let<\/div>\n
us ensure that we don\u2019t use hate speech during our campaigns. If other<\/div>\n
Parties do that, our concern should be to capture the hearts of the Ekiti<\/div>\n
people in going out to bring to an end the four-year comedy that has been<\/div>\n
going on there.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThe election in Ekiti is very important for the APC. Infact, we feel the<\/div>\n
level of importance of the election is slightly below the importance of<\/div>\n
the presidential election to us. We are not going to relent in our effort<\/div>\n
to win Ekiti State. The responsibility now rest on your shoulders.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The National Organising Secretary, Sen. Osita Izunaso during the<\/div>\n
inauguration also expressed the Party\u2019s resolve to win the Ekiti<\/div>\n
governorship election. \u201cThe election should be a must win for our Party.<\/div>\n
We won that election before, it was taken away fraudulently. This time<\/div>\n
around, we want to win it again and retain it.\u201d He said.<\/div>\n

The Chairman of the Party\u2019s National Campaign Council and the Governor of<\/div>\n
Kebbi State, H. E. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who was represented by the Ondo<\/div>\n
State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, at the inauguration<\/div>\n
called for unity among the campaign council and all stakeholder to ensure<\/div>\n
victory, come July.<\/div>\n

He said: \u201cWe take this task as very important. Just as we all have<\/div>\n
stressed it. This will not be the first time the Party is expressing and<\/div>\n
underscoring the importance of this election. When South-West Party<\/div>\n
leaders met with the president recently, he underscored the importance of<\/div>\n
this election.<\/div>\n

\u201cWe have faced enough of affront as a Party. Challenge has been thrown to<\/div>\n
us not only by the PDP, but by Governor Fayose. So we must be united to<\/div>\n
confront that challenge. We will give our all to ensure that we win Ekiti<\/div>\n

\u201cThis will be a second battle. Somebody I read on Facebook said something<\/div>\n
about Ekiti and I said by the Grace of God, it will happen that way. I<\/div>\n
tell you what he said, \u2018Akeredolu contested against Mimiko, he lost. He<\/div>\n
contested thereafter against Mimiko\u2019s candidate, he won. So if Fayemi<\/div>\n
contested against Fayose and lost, he is now contesting against Fayose\u2019s<\/div>\n
candidate. He will win\u2019\u201d.<\/div>\n
