The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the All Progressives Congress
\n(APC) is organizing its National Convention with funds stolen from
\npublic coffers.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman for the opposition
\nparty said the APC has remained the biggest beneficiary of corruption in
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n
The Statement reads:<\/p>\n
“The PDP also said the APC has become a laughing stock and a huge joke
\namong Nigerians following the inability of its leaders to resist the
\nimposition of an individual overburdened by corruption allegations as
\nits new leader.<\/p>\n
“It is sickening to note that the entire APC Convention is a celebration
\nof corruption organized to crown dishonest and fraudulent individuals,
\nwho ordinarily should be guests at the Economic and Financial Crimes
\nCommission (EFCC) offices across the nation.<\/p>\n
“With this, the APC has finally capped itself a party of corruption,
\ndeceit and lies, where alleged treasury looters are robed as kings and
\nwhere all decency have been thrown overboard for official hooliganism.<\/p>\n
“Moreover, Nigerians find it very nauseating that a party, whose Federal
\nGovernment claims to be fighting corruption, has itself, remained the
\nbiggest beneficiary of corruption and stolen public funds.<\/p>\n
“Our investigation had since revealed that governors of APC-controlled
\nstates were coerced to divert huge sums from federal bailout funds meant
\nfor the wellbeing of the people as well as monies budgeted for
\ndevelopment projects in various communities, to fund a failed convention
\nthat promises to sing the Nunc Dimitis of APC.<\/p>\n
“We also challenge the APC to deny reports that funds were siphoned from
\nsome federal agencies to finance a wasteful convention.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians can now surmise why the Presidency refused to bat an eye over
\nreported syphoning of billions of naira from the National Health
\nInsurance Scheme (NHIS) and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation
\n(NNPC) allegedly to fund the activities of the APC.<\/p>\n
“Furthermore, Nigerians now have a clue regarding the source of the N671
\nmillion reported to have been stolen from the APC account by some of its
\nofficials, who allegedly diverted the money into their private accounts.<\/p>\n
“The PDP calls on Nigerians to mark the APC National Convention as an
\nepilogue for a party\u00a0 that has caused our nation and her people so much
\npain and anguish in the last three years.<\/p>\n
