President Muhammadu Buhari\u00a0Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in Abuja called for stronger
\npartnership with lending banks to reduce the nation\u2019s infrastructure
\ndeficit, assuring of his administration\u2019s full commitment to implement all
\nagreements.<\/p>\n

Receiving the Board of African Export and Import Bank, AFREXIM, led by Dr
\nBenedict Okey, at the Presidential Villa, President Buhari said the
\nFederal Government will keep \u201cknocking on the doors\u2019\u2019 of the banks to
\nparticipate more in building infrastructure and developing the real
\nsector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful for the much you are doing for us, but we will continue
\nto knock on your doors for more and more as we strive to overcome our
\ninfrastructure deficit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe realise that we do need money to fix the appalling state of
\ninfrastructure we met; to do roads, railways, power and communications \u2013 a
\nsector now mostly in private hands which is doing very well.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be tired of us. We will be coming to you again and again.\u00a0 Please
\naccommodate us,\u2019\u2019 the President told the Board of AFREXIM.<\/p>\n

President Buhari said the nation already faces a challenge of fixing and
\nputting in place long delayed infrastructure and will need strong
\npartnerships for quick and better results.<\/p>\n

The President said it was an honour for Nigeria to host AFREXIM\u2019s Annual
\nGeneral Meeting and 25th Anniversary in Abuja.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the President and Chairman of AFREXIM Board of Directors,
\nDr. Oramah expressed satisfaction with the support of the Nigerian
\ngovernment in the operations of the bank, noting that the bank\u2019s
\nconfidence in Nigeria justifies the huge loans it had granted to the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n

He said the 20,000 participants attending the Annual General Meeting had
\nalready expressed their satisfaction with the quality of arrangements for
\nthe event, which includes security.<\/p>\n
