Former Ghanaian Head of State and President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings
\nhas called on Nigerian Presidential Aspirant to go ahead, whatever the
\noutcome in his electoral bid because he has demonstrated youthful power and
\nhas shown that Nigeria has alternatives.
\nRawlings made the statement while receiving members of the #take it back
\nmovement led by Nigerian 2019 Presidential aspirant and Activist, Omoyele
\nSowore at his office in Ridge, Accra, Ghana.
\nHe said Nigeria alone commands 35 to 40% of Africa\u2019s political power\u00a0 but
\nregretted that the Nigerian leadership had so far been unable to utilize
\nthat power.
\nMr. Sowore said at the meeting that he had come to the respected leader to
\nlet him know that \u201cyour next door neighbor, Nigeria is about to experience
\na revolution with the emergence of young leaders in 2019\u201d.
\nHe noted that his news website, Sahara Reporters had consistently exposed
\ncorrupt politicians but he realized that the media alone cannot change
\nNigeria but people who were ready to go all the way.
\nResponding, Rawlings said that he felt Sowore was best suited to continue
\nhis bold exposures on corruption. He went on to say the people of Nigeria
\ncouldn\u2019t take the rot and corruption anymore when they voted for change in
\n2015.
\n\u201cPretty much like what\u2019s happening in your country, people just got sick
\nand tired and gave their vote to Buhari. It\u2019s so unfortunate though that
\nPresident Buhari\u2019s government couldn\u2019t fight the rot without ambushing the
\ncost of living of the people\u201d.
\nWhiles acknowledging the complexities within the Nigerian socioeconomic and
\ngeopolitical environment, he added that President Buhari\u2019s government could
\nhave employed some intelligent flexibility; \u201chow do you fight corruption
\nwithout allowing it to affect the cost of living in the country,\u201d he said.
\nHe stated that African leaders\u00a0 don\u2019t teach their people defiance to put
\nleadership in check but rather they disempower them.
\nHe advised the presidential hopeful to approach the issue of corruption
\nwith caution because Nigerians may dismiss him because \u201ceven if this clean
\nman (Buhari) couldn\u2019t fight corruption, what about him?\u201d.
\nAt the meeting, the former President advised Sowore to carefully think
\nabout his ambition adding that it was going to be difficult not because of
\nmoney politics but because some Africans tend to sometimes fall in love
