Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has written to the Nigeria
\nPolice Force requesting a scheduling of his appearance over allegation of
\ninciting comments.<\/p>\n
Mr Fani-Kayode’s response was contained in a letter to the office of the
\nInspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, dated August 27.<\/p>\n
The letter signed by Kayode Ajulo, the Lawyer representing the former
\nMinister is also asking the Force for detailed information on his alleged
\noffence.<\/p>\n
The police had in a letter dated August 20 and signed by an officer, Habu
\nSani, the Commissioner of the IGP\u2019s monitoring unit invited Mr Fani-Kayode
\nfor questioning for alleged acts of \u201cconspiracy, criminal and inciting
\npublication.\u201d<\/p>\n

RE: LETTER OF INVITATION
\nCONSPIRACY, CRIMINAL DEFAMATION, INCITING PUBLICATION, INJURIOUS FALSEHOOD
\nAND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE A BREACH OF THE PEACE
\nREQUEST FOR RESCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENT IN RESPECT OF THE ABOVE SUBJECT
\nThe above subject matter and your letter dated 20thAugust 2018 with
\nrespect to same refer.
\nWe are Solicitors to the former Minister of Culture and Tourism, the
\nformer Minister of Aviation, and a renowned Barrister and Solicitor of the
\nSupreme Court of Nigeria, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who is hereinafter
\nreferred to as “Our Client” and it is on his definite instruction that we
\nmake the following representation.
\nOur Client is in receipt of your letter of invitation under reference but
\nrespectfully requests for a rescheduling of the date slated for the
\ninterview.
\nRecall that your letter of invitation is dated 20thAugust 2018; however,
\nsame was delivered to our Client only on the 24th day of August 2018. The
\nsaid letter has requested that our Client appears before a named officer
\non the 28th day of August 2018 for what you described as a “fact finding\u201d
\ndiscussion.
\nWe have our Client\u2019s instruction to inform you that he will honour the
\nsaid invitation and possibly respond to questions on all facts which may
\nbe limited to his knowledge.
\nHowever, it is essential to unequivocally state that the invitation letter
\nunder reference appears vague and ambiguous in its form. Your office, for
\nreasons best known to them, did not mention the name (s) and person(s)
\ncomplaining against our Client and on what particular subject matter his
\npresence is required. (Kindly find attached to this letter, a copy of the
\nsaid invitation letter.)
\nTherefore, in view of the short notice apparent in your letter under
\nreference, our Client is constrained to politely request for a
\nrescheduling of the interview date and also that he be furnished with
\nessential particulars of the purpose of his visit to your office so as to
\nadequately prepare for the said \u2018interview\u2019.
\nOur Client shall in the circumstance be requesting that the appointment be
\nrescheduled to either the 4thor 5th day of September, 2018, subject to the
\nconvenience of your office and officers.
\nThis request is necessitated by the fact that our client already has
\nearlier scheduled programmes that borders on some urgent and crucial
\nmatters already lined up for this week including the on-going Nigerian Bar
\nAssociation (NBA) Conference, which Conference our Client is participating
\nand hosting a number of delegates. These might make it difficult or rather
\nimpossible for him to honour the invitation on the scheduled date.
\nIt is in the light of the foregoing that we most respectfully crave your
\nindulgence for a rescheduling of the date slated for the interview to
\nafford our Client the opportunity to attend to his pressing engagements.
