Akpodiete, has dragged the ruling All progressive congress, (APC), the
\nAttorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Independent National
\nElectoral Commission (INEC), the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) and other
\nregistered political parties before the Federal\u00a0 High\u00a0 Court, sitting in
\nAbuja.In a Suit with No. FHC\/ABJ\/CS\/951\/2018, the Presidential aspirant is
\nasking the court to restrain the APC, PDP and others from collecting fees
\nfor nomination and expression of interest forms.Akpodiete wants the Court to stop the schedule primaries and if they do,
\nhe\u2019s asking the court to declare such primaries null and void.<\/p>\n

The Delta State born Politician and U.S based Lawyer is also asking the
\nCourt to restrain INEC from recognizing such primaries, pending the
\ndetermination of the substantial suit.<\/p>\n

Akpodiete is of the opinion that the nomination fees charged by political
\nparties are not only ridiculous and exorbitant but unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe nomination fees are repugnant to the rules of natural justice, equity
\nand good conscience\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an attempt by the Nigeria political oligarchs to make nonsense of
\nthe just passed (NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN LAW), and it is a calculated move to
\ndeprive the Nigeria people their constitutional guaranteed right to run
\nfor public office in their own country\u201d Akpodiete said.<\/p>\n

Akpodiete is asking the court to give a judicial breath to this matter by
\npegging the nomination fees for all elective positions at N18,000,00.
\n(Eighteen thousand naira only), because that is the nation national
\nminimum wage.<\/p>\n

Akpodiete is praying the court that if the nomination fees is beyond that
\namount, the ordinary Nigerian worker who earns N18,000,00, (eighteen
\nthousand Naira)\u00a0 monthly, would be deprived the capacity to achieve their
\nconstitutionally guaranteed right, which includes the right to run for
\npublic office.<\/p>\n

This action, according to him, is based on a breach of the fundamental
\nhuman right of all Nigeria aspirant and any attempt to keep the Nigeria
\npeople down shall be collectively rejected.<\/p>\n

It will be recalled that Akpodiete have earlier on June 29th 2018, wrote
\nto APC chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the national working
\ncommittee, appealing to them to jettison the nomination fees, but his plea
\nfell on deff ears.<\/p>\n

The case is awaiting hearing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
