{"id":64072,"date":"2018-10-15T21:59:15","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T20:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=64072"},"modified":"2018-10-15T21:59:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T20:59:15","slug":"abuja-group-cautions-efcc-on-fayose-says-he-must-be-charged-to-court-immediately","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/abuja-group-cautions-efcc-on-fayose-says-he-must-be-charged-to-court-immediately\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja Group cautions EFCC on Fayose, Says; he must be charged to court immediately"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-5044149558673853898\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Abuja based group, the Society for Rule of Law in Nigeria (SRLN) has<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">cautioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against<br \/>\nallowing itself to be used to settle political scores with the<br \/>\noutgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose,<\/p>\n<p>SRLN, in a statement on Monday and signed by its National<br \/>\nCo-coordinator, Dr Chima Ubeku, said the anti-graft commission will<br \/>\nhave no excuse to keep Governor Fayose in its custody for more than 12<br \/>\nhours when he submits himself tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>The group, which described as laughable the report of EFCC placing the<br \/>\ngovernor on surveillance, said a man who by himself volunteered to be<br \/>\nat the commission\u2019s Abuja office tomorrow and was in an event in Abuja<br \/>\nthat was transmitted live on television yesterday has shown enough<br \/>\nreasons to be trusted and it is important for the EFCC to do less of<br \/>\nits usual media hype this time around.<\/p>\n<p>The SRLN said having been on the matter for over two years and had<br \/>\ngiven the impression that it had watertight evidences of financial<br \/>\ncrimes against the governor, the EFCC should have by now prepared<br \/>\nwhatever charges it has against Governor Fayose and should be ready to<br \/>\ntake him to court immediately.<\/p>\n<p>This is not a case in which EFCC will have the luxury of keeping an<br \/>\naccused in its custody for weeks under the excuse of interrogation.
