{"id":64120,"date":"2018-10-17T21:20:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T20:20:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=64120"},"modified":"2018-10-17T21:20:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T20:20:30","slug":"n45million-apc-nomination-fees-court-fixes-friday-october-19th-for-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/n45million-apc-nomination-fees-court-fixes-friday-october-19th-for-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"N45MILLION APC NOMINATION FEES: COURT FIXES\u00a0 FRIDAY OCTOBER 19TH FOR HEARING"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-5256679345398989126\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">The federal high court sitting in Abuja, has fixed Friday October 19th, to<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">hear the case brought before\u00a0 it by Peoples right activist and APC<br \/>\nPresidential aspirant, Mr. Christmas Akpodiete.In September, Akpodiete filed an action before the court asking for the<br \/>\ndetermination of some fundamental rights questions in law on the<br \/>\nconstitutionality of political parties charging exorbitant nominations fees.<\/p>\n<p>Akpodiete is of the opinion that the N45 million naira nomination fees is<br \/>\nunconstitutional null and void and an attempt by the Nigeria political<br \/>\noligarchs to make nonsense of the just recently passed not too young to<br \/>\nrun law.<\/p>\n<p>Akpodiete is asking the court to declare the just concluded party<br \/>\nprimaries null and void, for gross violation of the fundamental human<br \/>\nright to participate in the governance of Nigeria and run for public<br \/>\noffice as enshrined in extant laws, including the recently enacted Not Too<br \/>\nYoung To Run Law.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also praying the court to order political parties to give a level<br \/>\nplaying field to all Nigerians so as to enable citizens who earn minimum<br \/>\nwage to participate in the electoral process with a view to participating<br \/>\nin the governance of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Akpodiete stated that it is trite law that any rules or regulations that<br \/>\nviolate\u00a0 citizens&#8217; fundamental rights are void.
