Democratic Party (PDP) has advised the All Progressives<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"m-1230199443385139994\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">Congress (APC) and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government<br \/>\nto seek forgiveness from Nigerians for purveying fake news in our country.<\/p>\n<p>The party said the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai<br \/>\nMohammed, should lead the government and his APC to do the needful,<br \/>\ninstead of the lame attempts at whitewashing the government and his party,<br \/>\neven when Nigerians know that they are behind the escalation of fake news<br \/>\nin Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Nigerians are aware that the phenomenon of fake news exploded to the<br \/>\ncurrent frightening proportion in Nigeria due to the desperation of the<br \/>\nAPC, whose spokespersons deliberately promoted outright lies, hate speech,<br \/>\ninsults and threats of violence as tools to gain political power, during<br \/>\nthe run-up to the 2015 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>The APC and its officials literarily fouled our media space by<br \/>\ndeliberately entrenching falsehood, fabrications, uncouth language and<br \/>\nabuses as \u201cacceptable\u2019 modes of engagement, particularly in the social<br \/>\nmedia.<\/p>\n<p>The APC and the Buhari Federal Government misled and have been misleading<br \/>\nthe media and the public by stating outright lies, half truths and<br \/>\nfabrications in their statements and claims about governance, individuals<br \/>\nand the opposition.<\/p>\n<p>Nigerians are witnesses to several false performance claims by the APC-led<br \/>\nFederal Government including phony political cumming economic recovery and<br \/>\ninfrastructure development claims, which they project to be factual, even<br \/>\nwhen the reality points to the contrary.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the APC purveyed fake news in its declaration of President<br \/>\nBuhari as winner of APC presidential primary with fictitious 14.8 million<br \/>\nvotes, even when there was no contest and no ballot cast.<\/p>\n<p>The deliberate deployment of fake news by the APC in its attempt to smear<br \/>\nthe PDP and its members, ended up demarketing our country in the<br \/>\ninternational arena and eroded the confidence the world had on our markets<br \/>\nand business concerns, resulting in the current dearth of investments,<br \/>\ncollapse of businesses, job losses and drop in national productivity.<\/p>\n<p>The APC should be remorseful and realize that their use of fake news has<br \/>\ndevastated our economic, political and social development by triggering<br \/>\nfear, public panic and uncertainty; disrupting production, distribution<br \/>\nand marketing chains and weakening foreign and local investors\u2019 confidence<br \/>\nin our system.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP therefore counsels the Minister of Information and Culture, the<br \/>\nBuhari Presidency and the APC to immediately apologize to Nigerians for<br \/>\npurveying fake news and discontinue their shameless enterprise of<br \/>\nbeguiling the unsuspecting public with impunity.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the PDP cautions Nigerians to be wary of the APC and identified<br \/>\nbeguilers in the Buhari administration who have have been fully mobilized<br \/>\nto commence the release of fictional and false performance indices with a<br \/>\nview to swaying Nigerians ahead of 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"conversation-footer\" class=\"spacer\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings
