Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has vowed<\/div>\n

not to return to the federal high court in Abuja where he was standing
\ntrial before he left the country.<\/p>\n

The federal government had charged him with treason but Binta Nyako, a
\njudge of the federal high court in Abuja, had granted him bail after 18
\nmonths in detention.<\/p>\n

Kanu had flouted all the terms of the bail before the military invaded his
\nAbia residence on September 14, 2017.<\/p>\n

He fled afterwards and resurfaced in Jerusalem on Friday.<\/p>\n

In a broadcast via Radio Biafra, Kanu boasted that the Nigerian court
\nlacks the capacity to try him.<\/p>\n

He said the judge who has asked his sureties to produce him should have
\nasked the army why they invaded his residence.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigerian court is a Kangaroo court. I did not jump bail, I left because
\nthe court failed to protect me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shall not be honouring the court. I cannot be tried by a court I do not
\nrecognise. The zoo called Nigeria cannot jail me. I will fight till the
\nlast day. Till now, Binta Nyanko\u2019s court is yet to hold a hearing on about
\nthe circumstances that led the Nigerian army to come to my house to kill
\n28 people. Only upon a clear pronouncement of the intentions of that very
\ncourt which I suggest to them should be free, will this very case move
\nforward.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing forward, there must be guarantee from the international community
\nso that this case can proceed and I will prove once and for all that there
\nis something fundamentally wrong with the brains of those that rule
\nNigeria.\u201d
\nHe narrated how he escaped during the invasion, saying 28 people who
\ndefended him were killed.<\/p>\n

Kanu said the intelligence arm of the Biafra group also prevented the
\nmilitary from getting hold of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo jets were hovering over and they stormed the compound and I sustained
\nseveral injuries and in the process of trying to defend me, 28 men fell,\u201d
\nhe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sole purpose of that evil dance was to kill me and members of my
\nfamily. They didn\u2019t want me to go to Abuja because they didn\u2019t have any
\ncase against me. They were afraid they would be disgraced before the
\nworld. They decided to eliminate me instead. They know if I go to court,
\nthat very country will not be the same again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am Nnamdi Kanu, no mortal flesh can kill me. They have not given birth
\nto that very person. Since they didn\u2019t want me to come to court, I shall
\ncome back to Biafra land. There is nobody who can accuse IPOB of engaging
\nin any form of lawlessness. I am in Israel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis same court that granted me bail stood by and watched as the army
\ndisobeyed court order. The army in contempt of court court came to kill
\nme. I was in my home preparing to go to Abuja for my case when they came
\nto kill me. They even killed Jack, our dog. They killed my cousin, Adaku
\nand 28 others. The notion that I jumped bail is a fallacy, a lie and a
\ndeceit. It is untenable in law.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
