Ex-President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has expressed grief over the death of
\nformer Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi,
\ndescribing his passing as a monumental loss.<\/p>\n
Jonathan who stated this in a statement by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze
\ndescribed the former chief justice as a man who stood as a towering figure
\nin the nation\u2019s judiciary.<\/p>\n
Jonathan noted that Kutigi was an exemplary judicial mind whose time at
\nthe bench left enduring legacies of fairness and confidence in the
\nnation\u2019s justice system.<\/p>\n
He said further: “Kutigi\u2019s effort and achievements in the area of
\nreforming the judiciary brought so much improvement in the nation\u2019s system
\nof jurisprudence.<\/p>\n
“He was a highly skilled and meticulous luminary who contributed so much
\nin creating the enabling environment for easy enforcement of fundamental
\nhuman rights in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will continue to live in the minds of our citizens as a great patriot
\nand statesman who never got tired of serving his nation even in
\nretirement. Nigerians will not forget how late Justice Kutigi put up a
\nsterling performance as the Chairman of the 2014 Constitutional Conference
\nwhich processes and outcome greatly rekindled hope in Nigeria\u2019s unity and
\nprogress.<\/p>\n
“His maturity, sagacity and sense of solidarity ensured that the difficult
\ncondition of reaching agreement by consensus was fulfilled without rancour
