Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that Nigerians
\nshould work towards electing a President with administrative and economic
\nexperience to move the country forward.<\/p>\n
He said that the APC Federal Government has destroyed the foundations of
\ngovernance and stagnated development across the country<\/p>\n
He spoke on Monday at the Government House, Port Harcourt when the
\nNational President and Executives of the Nigerian Medical Association
\nvisited him.<\/p>\n
He said: “We need a man with experience and economic understanding to
\ndrive the country forward.<\/p>\n
“We must save Nigeria.\u00a0 We have suffered.\u00a0 We must make a\u00a0 statement that
\nwe cannot continue like this.<\/p>\n
“We must do the right thing\u00a0 and that is the only way this country can
\nmove forward. We should no longer have a President controlled by the
\ncabal”.<\/p>\n
The governor said that there should be no difficulty in sacking the failed
\nBuhari administration, since the incoming President, Atiku Abubakar is
\nalso from the north.<\/p>\n
“Luckily, the next President is coming from the North.\u00a0 The excuse of
\nnorth and south is no longer tenable.\u00a0 Nobody should deceive us”, he said.<\/p>\n
He berated the APC Federal Government for politicizing the fight against
\ncorruption by using Anti-Corruption agencies to fight the opposition.<\/p>\n
“Nigeria is stagnated. It doesn’t matter where you come from. As a medical
\ndoctor, ask yourself, in the last three years, has the country made any
\nprogress?<\/p>\n
“This country has never been this divided. You must be healthy in a
\nhealthy country.\u00a0 You cannot be well in an unwell country”, he said.<\/p>\n
While thanking the doctors for visiting Rivers State, he said that his
\nadministration will continue to invest in the development of the health
\nsector.<\/p>\n
He directed the State Head of Service to immediately reinstate Dr Sofiri
\nPeterside in the Rivers State Civil Service.<\/p>\n
Earlier, First Vice President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Tijo
\nKenneth Mingeh praised Governor Wike for his investments in the health
\nsector.<\/p>\n
Dr Mingeh said that the doctors are in the state for the Physicians Week
\n2018 with the theme: “Universal Health Coverage: Leaving No One Behind ”<\/p>\n
The NMA Leader said that the theme is motivated by the need to improve
