Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been using top Presidency
\nofficials to have the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC,
\ndiscontinue the investigation of a N2.5billion fraud rocking the National
\nBroadcasting Commission, NBC.<\/p>\n

Mohammed whose Ministry supervises the NBC was linked to the fraud as
\nofficials of the ICPC traced part payment of the N2.5billion Digital
\nSwitch Over money to his personal account.<\/p>\n

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that since the ICPC started investigating
\nthe fraudulent deal, the Information Minister who is directly linked to
\nthe scam alongside the Director General of NBC, Kawu Modibbo, have been
\npiling pressure on the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari,
\nto halt the probe.<\/p>\n

Lai Mohammed will soon be charged along with Kawu Modibo, as ICPC traces
\npart payment of 2.5 Billion Naira Digital Switch over money to Kawu Modibo
\nand Lai Mohammed.<\/p>\n

“Yes I can confirm that while over N1billion was traced to the account of
\nthe Minister and some of his relatives, we have received several calls
\nfrom some persons asking us to halt the probe,” an official of the ICPC
\ntold Pointblanknews.com on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n

According to the ICPC official, Mohammed used his account and that of his
\nrelations to deposit part of the N2.5billion.<\/p>\n

“His relations have been invited for questioning and they would be charged
\nto court,” the ICPC source hinted.<\/p>\n

It will be recalled that federal Government of Nigeria in January of 2019,
\nfiled charges against NBC DG, Kawu Modibbo for fraud.<\/p>\n

The ICPC official also disclosed that Lai Mohammed is currently using
\nevery possible means to evade arrest besides using Presidency officials to
\nhalt the probe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
