The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

said that Bayelsa State under his leadership would not use public funds
\nfor electoral campaigns of whatever form.<\/p>\n

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Mr.
\nFidelis Soriwei, quoted the Governor as having made the comment while
\nspeaking with political appointees, leaders, and candidates of the
\nPeople\u2019s Democratic Party in Yenagoa on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Governor stressed that Bayelsa did not have any funds that could be
\ncommitted to the funding of the campaigns of party candidates.<\/p>\n

According to him, the limited resources available in the state would be
\ncommitted to the development of the state and her people.<\/p>\n

Dickson added that the funds available in the state were not even enough
\nto carry out the desired development of the state and would not be wasted
\non politicking.<\/p>\n

He said that those in pursuit of political offices should be able to spend
\ntheir money on the campaigns to actualize their objectives.<\/p>\n

Governor Dickson who described the forthcoming general election as
\ncritical, charged members of the PDP to mobilize and sensitize Bayelsans
\nto turn out en masse to vote the PDP for effective representation at all
\nlevels.<\/p>\n

Dickson who stressed that Bayelsa could not afford to be represented by
\nany opposition party urged the PDP members to move into the election with
\nthe traditional cohesion and unity for which the party is reputed in the
\nstate.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThe Government \u00f2f Bayelsa has no money to fund elections. I wish
\nto state without equivocation that the Restoration Government under my
\nleadership is not in the business of funding elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have enough money to work within Bayelsa. Bayelsa money must be
\nspent on the development \u00f2f Bayelsa, not for the funding of any election
\nmatter who, and how highly placed the person could be.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet it be that they know that Bayelsa truly is 100% PDP. No state
\nsupported our candidate more than us during the primaries. It is not
\nmoney. You know that I don’t use Bayelsa money to play politics for
\nanybody. Bayelsa money is to be spent for Bayelsa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis because the money is not even enough for me to work with. But we
\nmade sure there were mobilization and support for all our delegates and
\nleaders of our state, so let the final outcome reflect that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot afford in this state to have the opposition party represent us.
\nSpread that message and after the election, I will like to know who has
\ndelivered the votes.”<\/p>\n

The Governor said that the state government has transformed Bayelsa in all
\nsectors in addition to the reforms in fiscal discipline, governance
\nculture and respect for human rights irrespective of political affiliation
\nin the last seven years of Restoration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
